boredom

Post by Evilina »

It's boring on this mud for veterans these days, we don't have pkers but we do have active imms so how about a new smob that is long, hard and tedious that loads some new minor rare like soft soled boots were considered, or how abou quest worth qps for all clans. Something to make an older player play.

I have always thought we should have our own version of kennel keeper on this mud, op wandering mobs that wander but dont track so we have to clear an insanely hard area to get to the main smob.

Insanely hard smobs could be interesting. I'll have to think about this one...

just remember what I told you in game earlier, a single smob is either weak or insanely op and ends smobbing runs cause they mass kill mercs such as yurian does but something similiar to kennel keeper would construe of a set of 4 x 4 rooms with 20ish op mobs the players would have to clear individually and then eventually deal withn the main mob and his pat.

An imm should never put rares or uniques on a solo smob simply do to the factor of them being so hard to balance.

time consuming is the key factor here which could promote pk.

I was just stating my opinions, not telling you what to do. :)

The tone of that post sounded like advice, or directions, to me. But now that we've cleared that up, I should ask you whether or not you want to quest or smob in this case.

I have designed quests in the past (one of which is currently in game for humans) that have various layers to them, almost like a smob, but yet interactive like a quest (mob dialogue, light puzzles, etc). I'm fond of dark fantasy so my more involved quests tend to be a little gritty and dangerous. Maybe quests for certain remorts would be a possibility, depending on the demand for them. Those quests could be harder, almost like smobs.

QP oriented quests appeal to me, but have their downsides, and I'm going to discuss that with some of the other questers.

Keep the ideas coming! :)

The thing about quest is you can only do them once before the novelty wears off or they are coded as a one time deal but smobs are more long term oriented.
