BMI

Post by Chase »

I think BMI should be looked at. BMI is great, it adds variety to the game. I think, however, that it may have too much influence on the chance of bashing someone.

I had considered deleting and then recreating Chase just because his 6'2 151lb pounds cannot bash. With a 12lb sword, I land only 50% against absers, and I have landed 0/144 on dodgers. Meanwhile, people with 10 lb swords land almost 90% on full dodgers. These extremes make me want to recreate and "stat" until I roll a decent BMI. Of course, this could also be differences in strength, but I cant see how 2 more strength points could cause such a dramatic change.

This isn't to down those of you who have great BMI, its just any char with crappy BMI is very limited to what they can use: very heavy bashing weapons.

dude, you're a weakling, you chose to play a weakling, can't really complain about not being able to bash as well as a 20str warrior.

Yea, I already said that the strength was different, but lets see, how could a person with a 10lb sword bash 90 db 90% while a person with 12lb sword can't bash that same guy at all. Even though they have a difference of 2 str, it shouldnt be that much.

Look at con, a person with 19 con doesn't end up far from a person with 20 con. Not as big of difference as the strength comparision. So the only logical idea would be that BMI has a huge difference in landing %.

This is not complaining about not being able to bash as well, even though I have a better weapon. Its more the fact that I cant land at all, while someone can land on such him % with a worse weapon.

I'm not fully certain it is BMI(very well be many other factors), it might very well be, but it'd be great if IMM's would clue us in :)

I actually have great BMI, can't remember, like 6,1 with 230 lbs, and I have 16 str, and I land near 50% on absers, but I usually land 60-70% on dodgers with a 14 lb 2h sword.

And if changes weren't made to the 19 con for warriors and 20 con for rangers, they still are the exact same, there is no difference :)

And if the BMI stats do make such a big difference, it might be that we are leading toward the superstatting era again. Not only do we have to focus on the original stats, yet seems other people restatted for good mvs(something i didn't think of) and hps and now BMI or whatnot.

Just seems like it's gettin to be too much to even get a good character going now :)(ie Vurek is a ranger with 125 base mvs. snicker)

I want to keep the aura of mystery around bash, so I won't tell you exactly what effects what. With the new release we made bash dependant on various factors. BMI isn't actually one of the highest factors in the equation, so don't sweat it too much.
