Just a Brief Update

Post by Galnor »

Hey all,

I'd like everyone to know that no, I'm not dead... yet. I've been extremely tied up with a new job I've taken on as well as a business trip I had to go on a month ago. Things should be dying down soon as the busy season of my job is coming to an end.

I'd like to assure everyone that work is being done for the MUD and that desire to allow it to grow is still flowing up here. We have completed the making of new equipment as well as implementing stats to those items. These things will likely have to change as time goes on, but our new system should be a big step from our old. Ravir is now working on implementing new SMOB loads while I continue to work with the code.

I plan to add a few things that should give players something to do, even while no-one may be on at the same time.

In-game Auction House: Basically this will be a place where you can put up an item that you have found yet do not need and allow other players to buy it from you. Players can look up a specific type of item they are interested in, such as a ring, and bid on the item or accept a buyout. This would give money true value in the game instead of being something that continually grows yet has no value.

Cover Tracks: This works differently than you probably suspect. Instead of covering tracks that are already in the room, this skill allows you to cover tracks as you move. You can cover tracks of your entire group, but the chance of covering the tracks of each person is unlikely unless your skill is high. You may also have more than one person covering tracks in a group. The downside of this skill is that it slows movement time. The more people in a group that cover tracks, the longer it takes to move from room to room.

Mixing Potions: This skill would be dependant on both skill level and container. Certain containers will only be able to make certain types of potions. This will give players something more to strive for than simply advancing this skill. Players will have to go out into the world and find different components of a recipe and put it together to make a potion.

Wards: Taken directly from the books, players who choose the channeler race will be able to ward items in more than one way. One will allow players to keep track of an item and give them a general direction of where it is while the bearer of this item is unaware. There will be ways of course to tell if an item is warded, but it will not be simple to do so. The other type will enhance an item. However, there are risks to warding items.

Not all of what I have listed will be immediately implemented. We will still be working on the game after we open back up, but I wanted to list a few things that are on my list to do. Some have already been completed, and many more than what I have listed are either implemented are in line waiting for me to get to them.
