Bashed hiddens

Whenever you bash a thief, they do not go unhidden. This is silly considering that when your bashed, your engaged and sitting so now the mobs should assist. But they dont. Is it supposed to be like this? I can bash a person in a room with tons of mobs and they engage only after hide goes away (which is usually after 2-3 rounds).
