location of advanced mine

Post by Phantasm »

so I was thinking about our current PK zones, and how trollocs generally have to run at least FD for PK. FD is no problem, obviously, being a CTF city. but then I realized that the current location of the advanced mine is deep in human territory. wouldn't it make more sense from an equal, balancing standpoint to actually put it somewhere between the areas of control? not in the blight, but maybe somewhere around gap or FD's area.
something to contemplate.

I was hoping someone would ask this question so that I could have a chance to back my answer up :)

The reason I put it where it is is because trollocs have a distinct advantage in mining seeing as how they have more mvs and higher mv regen than humans. I thought it would only be fair to give humans a chance at better ores because they can't mine as long or as often as trollocs.

Phantasms point(I hope) is that it is situated between to major LS cities, drastically increasing the chances of a Trolloc being spotted and subsquently trapped in the mine by the LS. Granted we have better overall endurance, but I fail to see how that is balanced with the substantially improved chances of dying(with any hard earned ore gained too )

If I removed the door needed to access the area, would it help at all?

Dimmu hit the nail on the head. That's exactly right. If I wanted to go and mine there solo, I'd have to get a prac reset so I could get search, throwing off my PK pracs completely and making me an easy kill. Second I'd be smack in the middle of pukeland with those messed up pracs... all that needs to happen is for someone to track anywhere on the road between gap and the mine, and I'm royally screwed. On the other hand, a human can go there and be (almost) completely safe.
I agree that there are definite balance issues concerning mvs and regen, but I don't think that they should be addressed by putting the mine a few rooms away from FM and TV.
If anything maybe make certain items that humans can use to boost mvs or regen while mining that trollocs cannot use, or that trollocs can use while sacrificing something else. I think there's definitely a better location for the mine, and definitely a better way of solving the human mvs issue.

Or perhaps make humans not use as much mvs at mining..?

From now on, it won't take as many mvs for a human to mine as it will for a trolloc. Also, the location of the advanced mine has been moved.

Any bugs, questions, or complaints, post here.

Reduced move loss for Humans does not change the fact that Trollocs still need to travel to a heavily Light side favourable area. The zone layout is a problem too, with the mainly north/south layout meaning a bad flee can mean a quick death with only semi competent blockers. Maybe the solution can be to relocate the mine to more neutral zone, even if that zone needs to implemented(if one is available)

Edit: Bah Koradin beat me to it!

Its not that hard to find, just remember to look for neutral areas. Two or three on LS already found it.
