Channelers and Strength

Post by Viral »

Are channelers supposed to be able to strength themselves to wield a weapon heavier than 16 pounds?

Would make more sense if it wasn't self castable like when it was first in.
As is atm is basically every channeler is +1str to what they stat 90% of the time.

Why shouldnt channies be able to strength themselves...?

would you rather have them str themselves and solo or have multiple channies attacking you, str'ing each other?

From the books it was impossible to weave on yourself.

Actually it was just really hard. Channelers used weaves to change their appearance, hide their ability to channel...lots of stuff.

Though all of your discussion is heartfelt, my main question was whether or not strength weave should allow someone to wield a weapon they otherwise could not. To me, this is a loophole in the game which bypasses strength requirements for weapons.

wielding a wpn is supposed to be based on your base strength, that was my understanding after fogel explained it to me.

Nod Evilina. I agree.

and since we raise our strength by one, we can obviously use the weapon at a maximum of 17 pounds, if you statted well.

I see no problem with this.

I agree with Corbin and Viral. I think as long as your str is 17 you should be able to wield it but once your str wears off you should drop the weapon.

nah... i think maybe on rhollors idea, but i'd say only if noquit wears off, cuz dropping your weapon while your fighting, or in my case probably during a bash, would completely piss off every channeler. maybe a few tics after str wears off and noquit is gone, so you have time to turn it back on if your in pk

that or make it say 'Your strength is starting to fade away.' a tic or two before str wears off, and be able to stack it ontop of it between fading and its gone, so you dont have to drop it

but honestly, i dont feel this needs changing at all

perhaps do my tying off idea, so we can have 17 str weave tied until we release? but cost 1.5x the sp amount every time it runs out?

If tying off weaves were to be implemented, the weaves would probably last a shorter amount of time.

If you wanted to hold weaves you could do that too, but that would probably cost additional sps per tic.

It's basically your own choice to str yourself to wield a weapon, 'knowing' it might drop anytime or wield a weapon that'll last throughout entire pk. But the str-weave lasts pretty long though.

I should be able to str myself and get myself another claymore!

make str stackable and warn you when its low, so we dont have to drop our weps during a pk if you imp dropping it if its too heavy?

Could an Imm actually say what the deal is? Are we or aren't we allowed to str ourselves to wield weapons?

This is not what an Imm told me over tells.
Which is why I'm asking again just to make sure.

It's fine for now. If I decide it shouldn't be allowed, I will code it so it is no longer possible and you all will be warned.
