Thief Discussion
Take a deliberate unblocked/dodged/parried weapon damage hit to interupt a bash.Rhollor wrote:Not sure what you mean.
Instead of taking a bash you take a melee round???
Or you attack their weapon to stop bash but take some dmg???
You are recently returned so you might not know that you can "shieldblock" if you have a shield and shield parry pracced. This runs a timer during which you have a chance of blocking bash and charges.
Like I'm completely dead if he bashes me with these 3 other people around so I'll take a full hit to avoid going down.
I would like to know why thieves have ability to run timers on engaged still. As it is, thieves are just a different version of warriors. With shield block and pstrike two thieves were able to make 2 combo bashers run in. But not sure why running on engaged is still allowed. Just now two thieves were able to fleestab 3 humans over the coarse of 30 mins. Each time the humans were spamming hard. Pretty dumb imo and a skillless tactic to get an undeserved kill.
In my biased opinion, I'd liked to point out that fleestabs are very hard to pull off, ESPECIALLY against a skilled pker who spams. There is only 1 pulse in which the timer is unbeatable for someone who spams, and it's damn near impossible to try to time it with the fleer's varying fleelag, etc. When it does happen it is definitely more SHOCKING to the stabber than anything else
Also, as you can see from the log below, I started the timer when you weren't engaged.

Here are the mighty gates of Fal Dara which have withstood battle after

Shrug. Btw this is no death whine, I was planning to do it anyway earlier but forgot. Then I had time in the circle. In that case I stopped my bash timer as soon as he started to flee and began spamming. Somehow they didnt go through/spam was timed wrong so it didnt go through during that pulse.
What my real arguement though, is that whats fair about that? Congrats you get the kill/wps/qps/eq/whatever but I hardly think anyone could call that fun or entertaining. I usually have more fun dying in a well fought fight or getting that kill crit vs crit. I feel that a kill in this instance, even if it is hard to pull off, is very undeserved. Im sure I could pull off fleecharge even easier than it is to fleestab someone, but I don't plan on it. It would be pretty ruthless on my part and I personally don't feel I would have deserved the kill.
While I lost nothing but wps, and anyone on LS can tell you I don't care about them, this just made me feel like I wasted time pking vs you two. It was some decent back and forth pk, and then this happened. It pretty much kills any urge to pk because it just shows how someone is there for the number on their 'score' than entertaining pk.
So in summary I am not saying its not an unstoppable kill. I could just sit in a room and spam my ass off and you wouldnt be able to do that. But then we have one of you pstriking or just straight melee me before you flee, and then its pretty inevitable what happens unless I leave pk. Therefore, this "skill" pretty much ruins pk.

I guess that's the main difference maker. It's about where people have their lines drawn, I guess.Chase wrote:It pretty much kills any urge to pk because it just shows how someone is there for the number on their 'score' than entertaining pk.
For me personally, I play this game for both the thrill and entertainment of pk, and the score. If not for the score, how would we know if we're "winning" this unwinnable on-going game?
So I guess I was just dreaming when I saw you trying to flee charge me with Manfried the other day? Only I got away.Chase wrote: Im sure I could pull off fleecharge even easier than it is to fleestab someone, but I don't plan on it. Great going Chase, really I admire your honesty.
B.
Are you joking? I attacked you NE of FD and had no idea Manfried was even online. I saw him on you and went into FD and rented, because I didnt want to ruin both of your pk. I spent maybe one round in the same room as you. Honestly dude I don't know what personal vendetta you have against me but take it easy. No need to get all bent out of shape over it.Blark wrote:So I guess I was just dreaming when I saw you trying to flee charge me with Manfried the other day? Not sure anyone has said anything similar to this but heres my 2 cents.
Shield block seems to be a little too successful. I have prolly used it to the same affect that was used on me earlier, but after getting defeated so utterly by a thief just because 8/10 bashes were blocked (maybe not 100% on the numbers...) it seems a little unbalanced. I'm not saying the block % is bad though. From using shieldblock I have a couple suggestions:
1. Successfully blocking should lag you a little similar to the basher's lag.
2. I don't think you should be able to keep reentering shieldblock even before it has finished its timer, so that there is no lapse between blocks.
3. I think "lowering" your shield after a run timer should lag you briefly
Dunno what anyone else things but just a thought, since dodge was upped a bit and this just gives another hurdle to get over 1v1 with a dodge shield user.

I like your suggestions Karlin.
I hope that shieldblock is dependent on the certain shield being used as well, as I can imagine a tall metal tower shield being better at blocking a bash than a crystal trimmed shield.
Also, I think the success % of shieldblock is pretty decent, considering DB is not taken into effect afterward, so if it fails, you're screwed, and even if it succeeds, you might get a -30 pb effect from it for a while (which, if you're full dodge, basically lets people rape you unbashed

I like the way you think. After next reboot, Shield Block will cause slight lag upon ending the timer, equivalent to the lag given by a missed bash. This happens regardless of whether you run the timer to the end or cancel it part of the way through. Just as a warning, any command entered to cancel it will get eaten and will not go through.
