Help me! I don't know all the new stuff...

Post by Guest »

So It's been a while since I've played here, probably around two years now, and I need some help adjusting to the changes...

Axes (93%), (superb)
Bash (92%), (superb)
Dodge (85%), (very good)
Kick (90%), (superb)
New Tongue (100%), (superb)
Notice (88%), (Level 7)
Shield Parry (86%), (superb)
Track (52%), (Level 4)

Your abilities are: Str: 18, Int: 12, Wis: 12, Dex: 15, Con: 20

This seemed like a good, fun set-up to me... Anyways, some suggestions would be nice.

But the main reason for my post is even though I know the set up I would -like- to achieve. I have NO IDEA what eq to use for it (combo? dodge?)

If someone would list the pieces of eq I'm going to need and the smobs that load them, you would be my hero!

Edit: I'm only level 28 at the moment, so I have plenty more practices coming in soon as I lvl up to 50.... suggestions on how to spend those pracs would be cool as well

While that would be fun, axes dodge doesnt work. The spiked axe doesn't give enough defense in my opinion so you will be eating it if a high ob basher gets on you, and especially if more than 1 human/mob.. It has been tried, and it didnt work well besides smobbing..

What do you suggest I change to then?

I disagree.

I am in that current setup, although I have beyond lackluster defense as I am more concentrated on bashing power.

You have no practice sessions remaining.
You know of the following skills:
Axes (99%), (superb)
Bash (99%), (superb)
Dodge (88%), (superb)
Kick (11%), (bad)
New Tongue (100%), (superb)
Notice (92%), (Level 7)
Ride (85%), (Level 7)
Shield Parry (85%), (very good)
Survival (22%), (Level 1)
Track (22%), (Level 1)

You are using:
<used as light> a small brass lantern
<held> a small decorated purse
<worn around neck> a medallion of shiny silver
<worn around neck> a necklace with an opal pendant
<worn in right ear> a thick earring made of gold
<worn in left ear> a ruby earring in the shape of a heart
<worn on head> a murky colored hood
<worn about body> a forest camouflage cloak
<worn on body> a blue silk shirt
<worn on shoulders> a pair of tough leather shoulder pads
<worn on arms> a pair of gold-embroidered silk sleeves
<worn about waist> a rough steel belt with an ornate buckle
<worn around wrist> a black tinted wristcuff
<worn around wrist> a wristcuff with embedded gems
<worn on hands> a pair of riveted chainmail gloves
<worn on finger> an emerald signet ring
<worn on finger> an emerald signet ring
<wielded> a spiked half-moon axe
<worn as shield> a leather covered targe
<worn on legs> a pair of dark cloth leggings
<worn on feet> a pair of thick leather hunting boots

Your mood is currently: Wimpy
Offensive Bonus: 131 Dodge Bonus: 74, Parry Bonus: 105
Your abilities are: Str: 16, Int: 12, Wis: 12, Dex: 17, Con: 20
Your armor absorbs 9% damage on average.

Depends on the style you want to play.

The reference chase was saying that it didn't work was mainly because it was tested before the changes to middle dodge(in my case high end set with shitty dodge pracced +17 dex. :P)

The axe will give you 0 pb, but, I think if you'd like to dodge bashes, this setup will rule supreme.

Every time I encounter chase(who is dodge/bash, 80 db with 130ish pb i think) I get my ass owned when on a strong(16.5 lb weapon, 136 ob) ds basher.

I would strongly recommend this setup(i have not tested combo, combo isn't even fully imped) as you will have bashing power to bash other mid dodge users.

However, you will never bash the 100ish db super dodgers, but you will be able to take on any other player you wish.

Otherwise, I'd recommend chase's setup, but being as ash clubs have somehow disappeared and don't load, it's not worth it.

Also, I am lvl 50, and I'd be interested in your practices, your defense, etc with your 15 dex.

I'd like to know how your db turns out in different sets, still trying to eventually find the "best" setup out of the various point selection system. :P

Also, the bashing differences between 93% and 99% is outrageous for weapon/bash.

So you can either spread your pracs as you lvl into defense or into bashing, but either way you'll do fine.

Only way to really figure this out, is for you yourself to test it, and hopefully enjoy it.

One of the only fun things to do around kinslayer.

True, but in this setup you only bash (reliably) dodgers who have 70 or less db. It all depends on your playstyle. Fighting the many DS thieves will get very annoying. I know this from my own set, where I just melee them and I sometimes randomly break their def. This type of setup will rock fighting absers IF you have the set to back it.

This is a pretty decent set. The main problem with this type of setup in your case would be that you HAVE to have a very nice set to be able to compensate for your lacking pb. I wouldnt suggest anything worse than silver shield ad full dodge. Combo works somewhat, but since full combo isnt in game yet I would suggest staying dodge. Go combo until you have the full set of dodge before switching.

The most important thing said. Dont play a style because you rock others, play it because you enjoy playing it and you do your best in that setup.

I have arguably the best dodge set in game atm and I still get bashed by lower end weapons. On a thief at my same level they would pull probably 110 db compared to my 80. But remember, only use that axe if you dont mind having to watch thieves. Thieves are the bane of dodge bash. You cant touch them but they can stab you. Each setup have a counter, and we destroy abs(usually :P ), but thieves own us (if they competant and stab you if/when you mess up). Besides, its not just my set that owns you!!

The only weapon to take on super dodgers would be a shimmering axe, poleaxe, or claymore (possibly dark axe). Don't book on getting an ash club, there are about 3 in game that I know of, and 2 are being used. I searched 4 weeks for one until I was kindly given one. (Thanks Dakeyras :) )

But if you really want to go dodge bash, dodge axes is the most feasable means of doing so...
Oh and BTW Vurek, I'm not picking apart your post, just had good general points and I wanted to elaborate.

The result of this setup(even in shit set) vs stabbers with high db:

Stalemate. You should never get stabbed, unless lackluster fleestab, other than that, you are untouchable by them.

I just think axes/combo/dodge work better than the other classes, the other 1h weapons just can't bash abs effectively, and they will never bash 60+ db.

This is the best setup I can think of for dodge/bash and the likes :P
