my spacebarisbroken at the moment, so forgiveme forlack of spaces here...
I had heard that weaponbalancing wasgoing tobe done soon, andi've noticed that today i'veonly stabbed about 50% with Poniard, where as a weekago, iwouldlandroughly 90%. Hasthe balance beencompleted,or is todayjust anoff day?
A rotting tree makes a strange sound but is suddenly very silent as you place a sharp, sleek-edged poniard in his back.
This session you've landed 28 out of 56 stabs (50% landed) .A rotting tree grimaces in pain.
You receive some experience points!
Your blood freezes as you hear a rotting tree's death cry.
A rotting tree is dead! R.I.P.
whatsup with this?
PS: i didn't thinkthis wasa bug orloophole, which is why i posted here.

Why don't you test other daggers and knives and let us know the landing rate, one of the main problems with kin has always been random imm's changing weapon balance on a constant basis and not informing anyone, hell I've seen imms change a weapon at the spur of the moment without consulting the weapon balancing imm which at this time I believe is Vyldav.
[quote5e="Vyldav"]I am currently working on balancing weapons, so expect changes to be done on most weapon classes except daggers.
Also, I will be making the smithable weapons some of the best in their respective classes
From now on there shouldnÔÇÖt be many weapons that have it all; you will now have to choose if you want to have nice bash and damage, nice bash and pb, or nice pb and damage. There will, however, still be weapons that are defensive, can bash, and have alright damage, there just wonÔÇÖt be many of them.
Not all of the changes will be able to be seen with the stat command.[/quote5e]
Sounds like a warning to me...

I would of found the abs vs dodge balance by using the glittering spear stats vs the platinum mace stats. In 10+ pk sessions with Heritage he would win a session then I, the balance was near perfect with the possible exception of my parrying hits while bashed. but you also have to take master bonuses into account so the balance vs a non master is pretty good possibly leaning a little towards the abser.
Platinum Mace is the perfect abs weapon, all other smithable abs weapons need to be modeled after it.
Glittering Spear was the perfect dodge and combo weapon, now its as pointless as the smithable pike. The same thing happened to the pike a few years ago, it went from being over the top with ob, pb, and dmg to being a crappy abs weapon, in essence the same thing that has happened to the glittering spear.
dodge weapons should give good ob, good db, mid pb, and mid dmg
combo weapons should give good ob, mid db, good pb, and mid dmg
abs wpns should give good ob, good weight, and good dmg
I will reiterate, moderate changes are what we need.
I would of changed the glittering from 175 pb to 170 or 165, a lost off 106 pb isn't reasonable.
Nurfing eq nulls players hard work and shows a lack of stability in the mud.

You are totally correct I did jump to conclusions and apologize.Vyldav wrote:There was a little mistake with the code that switched the parry with the dodge on weapon stats. I would appreciate it if in the future you wouldn't jump to conclusions and realize if there was an over night 100+ change in pb, it was probably an oversight, or a mistake.
No weapons don't give db, they either give no db malus or give a small to large one.
Well I've tested a few spears thus far, glittering now is -3db, -16pb, with some damage loss.
Pike is interesting, 153 ob, 122db, 115pb, good dmg and 17lbs. Not sure what you were shooting for but it's not exactly an abs weapon (dmg is a little low) nor combo or dodge. I'd add 10 pb to tempt dodgers and comboers to use it.
I understand why glittering spear was downed, it had nice stats, was two handed, and skewered great. I'd like to see a two handed weapon modeled after it with the exception of charge. I'm a thief and don't have the pracs to use one handed weapons and a shield.
On a side note the balance changes I've tested thus far seem to favor abs, Heritage and I had a little pk and the only thing that saved me was getting my bashes off faster.

Pike is more of an abser weapon actually, it has better damage than you think. I allowed it to have some pb though, so if someone still wanted a weapon that can bash well, and has good damage, but wants to remain in dodge or combo they will have to sacrifice their defense.
One of my biggest problems with the previous weapon setup was how people could go full dodge, and still bash other full dodgers. Hopefully I have gotten rid of this for the most part, although the one-handed heron, which is unique, should be able to be used in that type of a setup.
I may down that heron a little bit more though, seeing that it is still kind of the sickness.

I disagree, combo users loose a massive amount of db but should make up for it in pb. comboers should get bashed quite often but be able to parry some hits.
If combo means db and pb loss then people will just play abs or dodge, as it was combo wasn't worth playing now it will be totally pointless.
Here's my breakdown of different set ups we had or have.
abs
weapons have great dmg, great bash, absorbtion beats dodge and always has, abs sucks vs mobs
dodge
mid to poor weapong dmg, mid to poor bash, vs an abser with a nice wpn the dodger looses hands down, dodge rocks vs mobs.
combo
mid to poor dmg, mid to poor bash, crap db due to the eq system, with 175+ pb the combo set up is playable, combo rocks vs mobs.
On a side note, with the downing of dodge and combo weapons which means less db and pb I hope abs weapons are being adjusted accordingly, if not abs will completely destroy everything.
As well most dodgers and combo users have an insta kill button, charge and stab. Some of us are pure melee, I'd like to see the pure melee weapons get some kind of perk.

There is still a point to playing combo, you have some defense, and some absorption. Everyone wants the best of every world, but IÔÇÖm sorry, you have to make choices.

I'm not exactly sure what you are getting at here, dodge and combo users shouldn't be able to land as many bashes as absers? The balance between the three play styles has always been weapon damage, abs vs weapon damage, db and pb.
What strategies are you speaking of?
Possibly running to the mobs that have been downed so significantly they have almost zero affect in pk?

No, if you want more absorption, you are going to have less defense. On both db and pb.

[quote38="Evilina"] Possibly running to the mobs that have been downed so significantly they have almost zero affect in pk? [/quote38]
Everyone else seems to be able to understand that mobs give out damage, which helps you do more damage to your opponent.

But they sacrificed their defense for absorbtion and they get a heavy weapon that does more damage, bashes well, and get move trinks.
Now dodgers and combo users wont parry anything, will get bashed a lot, will have worse bash, and will have lower wpn dmg.
thus

abs + wpn dmg + bash + moves > db + pb + wpn dmg + bash

So how does a defensive character get a "high damage" weapon and/or use bash without sacrificing their defense? According to what you have previously said, this is not possible.
Under this new system I foresee everyone either being abs bash, dodge stabbers, or just sub par. We are already limited on class types now we are going to be limited on setup styles, basically everyone will be a cookie cutter character.
As history has shown eventually a random imm will re balance eq and wpns again in a year or two and the balance will shift.
Dodge and abs balance is similiar to republicans and democrats, every four years or so people get rid of the one and replace it with the other.

If you canÔÇÖt understand the concept of if you have more absorption, you will have less defense, then I donÔÇÖt know what to tell you.
If I thought absorption was equal to defense then I would change the pb/db malus/bonus on weapons to equal the exact number of absportion % that you had. But, because I don't, then I don't think of them as being equivalent.

Here we go again with you using words/phrases like ÔÇ£wonÔÇÖt parry anythingÔÇØ. I donÔÇÖt think you understand the concept of people will have to sacrifice something in every setup. There are plenty of high damage weapons that can be used in both the dodge and combo setups. No, that was merely an example. There are many different ways in which to fight someone and just because you donÔÇÖt know how to do it doesnÔÇÖt mean that it isnÔÇÖt out there. I havenÔÇÖt had any problems with the changes IÔÇÖve made, and IÔÇÖve pked with just about every setup.
You can get upset all you want because you canÔÇÖt use a rogue to be full dodge, bash whatever you want, and have the one of the highest damage dealing weapons in the game. I donÔÇÖt understand how to make it any more plain. People have to make choices on what they want to do.
You can have a high damage weapon and play dodge, but you probably wonÔÇÖt bash too well but will have pretty good defense.
You can have a high damage weapon that can bash, but you probably wonÔÇÖt pull very good defense.
You can have a high defense weapon that can bash, but it may not be high damage.
Choices.
Also, I will take the risk of people saying I suffer from vanity, but IÔÇÖve been successful on both Wotmud, and Kinslayer, on rogues, hunters, and warriors, full dodge, combo, and abs, and I feel I have a great grasp, and understanding, of pk and weapon balance.
I am now done responding to you on this thread. I have heard what you have had to say, and I have given you my take on things.

Not all of the changes will be able to be seen with the stat command.[/quotec2]
I want to point out he said smithable weapons were going to be nice. I think that is cool. I just finished smithing that platinum mace. It took me more then 30 hours of smithing(literally), and work from other people who helped with getting ores. And it is 15.5 lbs, and has less OB then a club that loads on 2 smobs that are blight. The damage seems to be ok, but as this club is 2handed, I would expect it to be at least heavier and have a little more OB then it has. Especially after all the time it took me to make the thing.
Should I keep going and try and make other weapons as well? I really am not sure im ready to spend all that time on mining again to find out that the weapons are useless. (The abs spear that is smithable is 18 lbs... The mace should be at least this if not more, it can only bash, it dont skewer etc)

Ok the Platinum mace is 1handed. Can it be made 2handed instead or perhaps make another smithable club thats 2handed? The damage on it is pretty good, but the OB and weight suck. Would be cool to have it 2handed. (before making the mace I had asked and I am pretty sure an imm told me it was 2handed. Otherwise I would have made a 2handed weapon.)
