mailing system

Post by Aj »

I've noticed quite a few people that log into the game don't read the forums and if they do they don't bother to log in. How about bringing the in game mailing system back? the commands check, mail, and receive are still in game, all we need is one mob for ds and a couple for ls possibly placed in caem and fm.

No coders needed just one competent in olc, sorry Phoenix this rules you out. :P

awsome idea, i love it... it would make things a lot easier for clanning, ranking, mastering, etc. Would make things more accessable too if we were able to mail items, like on warcraft... if possible, like a parcel service or something cost per weight, maybe?... Aj, you inspire me man =P

Mailing items would require coding and we don't have an active coder, cool idea though.

Thought more on this last night, mailing items would be so easy to abuse, I could mail every single top end piece of eq I came across to an alt and have an endless storage without the max weight malus, this would be a coders nightmare.

I don't see why being able to store anything you want is a big deal, all limitations do is cause players to find ways around them. Ideally storage should just be implemented into banks.

In game mail seems kind of unnecessary to me. What would make people any more likely to check in game mail than forum mail?

If you log in and get a notice saying you have mail would make all the difference, not sure about you guys but the mailing system on the forums seems to be a little buggy, I don't get email notifications anymore so I might not notice a piece of mail for a week or so.

As far as storages go, if the old max amount of top end eq is still in game one person hording eq would make it hard to impossible for another to obtain eq.

Is the email notification the only thing you notice that is buggy about the forum mail? I don't think email notification has ever worked. If anything else is wrong, then let me know.

As far as in game mail goes, the code for the old system has long since been purged. Might be able to get something in the future but it's definitely not a priority.

As far as mailing items: make a time limit, till it expires, say 30 days for example... so i mailed myself a heron and 20 cuendillar bracelets and tried to keep them stored in my mail for more than 30 days, they'd disappear. it would ward off most attempts at mailing top end stuff to alts for storage if said alt is already loaded down...

Made a reply to a topic and I received the message "No topic exist for this post", hit the back button a few times and refreshed and there was my post.
