Global Quest - July 31st: 'That's No Wilder'

Post by Ouysa »

Cyrnia Sedai reined in her horse, patting the beast with a gloved hand. She could sense vast amounts of Saidar being wielded off in the distance. Furrowing her brow, she turned to her companion, ‘That’s just not some Wilder, Sister, or another Aes Sedai. There are few of us who can embrace that much power, and we would be silly to do so for such a prolonged period.’ Amakia Sedai nodded. As Sisters of the Green Ajah, both were apt and strong in battle.

Amakia Sedai nudged her horse further down the road, ‘Let’s get a closer look, and see if we can’t see the culprit Cyrnia.' Cyrnia had no choice but to follow her fellow Sister who was stronger in the One Power than herself. ‘Right behind you.’

Slitha felt it a moment before the Aes Sedai spoke. She was proud that she beat the Aes Sedai and further prided herself that they had zero idea they were being followed. She didn’t have to take a closer look, for she knew what it was, she was only following the Aes Sedai to gather further intelligence to bring back to Murash. Little did she know that the Aes Sedai were only out for a ride and not seeking what she was. ‘Stupid Aes Sedai.’ Slitha muttered as she deftly wove a gate and stepped through it into the Gatekeep. With a flick of her hand the gate collapsed behind her as she made her way up the stony paved road.

‘That’s no Wilder, Sister.’ Wide brown eyes took in the sight before her. ‘We must make our way to the Amyrlin and report this at once.’ Cyrnia Sedai did not wait for permission; she simply wove a gate wide enough for them to enter with their horses and left the path.

Amakia glanced through the gate, and towards Sunset Square. Her Sister had already handed off the reins of her horse to a nearby Novice. She would let it slide this time, considering the situation, and kneed her horse towards the Square. She had barely made it through when the gate closed, Cyrnia a few steps ahead of her calling for her to quicken her stride. Amakia Sedai chuckled and tucked her riding gloves behind her belt. ‘Right behind you.’

Adlamar stepped out of the shadows and blocked her way. ‘Why in such a rush, Dear?’ He said in whispered tones and reached out a hand, running it through her hair. Slitha slapped his slender wrist away and stepped back from the man. He was on the verge of insanity. She’d seen many of the male Dreadguards on the edge of madness from the male half of the source, Saidin. Just because they shared a bed once, the man thought she was his. A mistake that was. She blamed it on the blood rage, they were both high from battle and she needed a release. Unfortunately he was the first she saw.

A faint chuckled filled her head and she replied, ‘Perhaps if you spent less time chasing skirts, slaves none the less. Yes, we all know it, Adlamar. Murash would trust you with more ... important, tasks. But as it is, you have fallen from grace more than once, and alas, it is what it is. Now get out of my way; I have business to take care of.’ The man’s left eye twitched as he stepped from her path and flourished a small mocking bow. Slitha breezed past him and pushed open the heavy door.

The trollocs in the Captain’s Quarters moved out of her way as she approached. Pleasantries aside, ‘The Aes Sedai knew nothing, even of the creature’s existence. They will be of no aid. I suggest we move fast if we are to secure these creatures for ourselves. No doubt the Aes Sedai will try and do the same.’

The black hood concealed his features but she heard his voice as plain as day, ‘You’ve done well, Slitha. Await further instruction.’ Slitha nodded, turned on her heal and left the Quarters.

Adlamar was hovering outside the large door, ‘Well?’

‘Well, what?’ She hissed. ‘We wait. That’s what.’

’The Amyrlin will see you now.’ The Keeper of the Chronicles ushered the two Green Sisters inside. Amakia and Cyrnia Sedai exchanged brief glances. No matter how much they stressed the importance of speaking to the Amyrlin they were kept waiting.

‘Mother.’ Speaking simultaneously, both Sisters kneeled. Each in turn kissing the large serpent ring on her finger.

‘Daughters. Please stand and take a seat.’ The Amyrlin said, motioning towards two plush leather seats. ‘I trust you both are well? Back from a ride in the forest, yes?’

‘Indeed, Mother’ replied Amakia. ‘We have some news to report. We have discovered something noteworthy and worth pursuing.’

The Amyrlins eyes glistened, ‘Browns are we now, Daughters?’

Cyrnia shifted in her seat, her demeanor taking on a serious note. ‘Mother’ she began, her tone grave. ‘It might be best if we channel an eavesdropping weave around us; what my Sister and I need to say is greatly important.’ The Amyrlin fingered her multicolored stole and settled the weave around them. Cyrnia opened her mouth and began; to an outsider all one would see were rapidly moving lips. Amakia clenched her jaw; this was the second time her Sister overstepped her bounds. Once this situation was over she would make sure it never happened again.

When she was done the Amyrlin stood, releasing the weave. ‘Get me Lord Agelmar.’ She told her Keeper before turning to the Green Sisters, ‘You have both done well, although you should have brought this to me sooner. We need to get this under wraps before the Dark One's minions discover it. You have my leave. Await further instruction.’

A fireball blew past, torching another small wooden cottage to bits. Villagers screamed, and children cried. No one had seen the likes of it before. Smoke billowed in the air and dark clouds blew in the sky, threatening lightning. Some couldn’t fathom how one person could harvest such devastation. Tales would be told for years: some would tell of how one ten foot tall woman smashed a village with her bare hands; others would speak of how an army of petite women called lightning from the sky and killed babies in their cradles. Others still would never trust Aes Sedai again.

‘The Aes Sedai have gone wild!’

‘These are not Aes Sedai!’ One villager cried.

‘Of course they are! Who else can reap such destruction!?’

A mother held her babe tight to her chest, her face streaked with tears. Her husband tried to pry the scorched child from her arms. ‘Martha, the babe is dead.’ His voice fell on deaf ears; his wife was lost, lost to the madness.

/ End ... for now!

See you all tonight at 8pm EST Sharp!
