With having to find recipes to create platinum and obsidian eq smithers are either on hold or gave up and are doing other things besides this game. I don't agree with the concept of recipes for smithing, I can understand wanting to thwart botters (just have yurian break through the walls lol) but this has completely put smithing at a stand still for who knows how long, plus having to smob for recipes even with mining and smithing at a high % makes no damn sense.
Hrm I have some obsid and plat ore but now I need to go kill torm, a snake, some human mobs, a knight, etc to learn how to effectively create a piece of armor or weapon. cmon lol this is funny stuff.
I think 90% + smithing needs to be revamped, get rid of recipes in smithing script, just lower the load of obsid and plat ore.
The most ironic part of all of this is 90% + smithers need to collect recipes, recipes cant be stored in chests so smithers have to store the bits and fragments on alts.
Bits and fragments are meant to be saved right? So wtf can we not save them in chests, To detour group efforts?
I kinda of wish they could be store-able in chests. It really isn't that bad though. I have been smobbing for mixing recipes and besides finding some nice smithing recipes, I have also found a gold/silver/plat/obsid ore on 50% of the smobs I hit.
It does suck though because of how many smithing recipes there are. You figure 5-6 weapons per ore type, and then 4 different bits. That is atleast 75 different bits for smithing. Odds of getting a full sheet in any decent amount of time is slim to none. Maybe if there was a way to choose the type of weapons you want to go for?
Also, the apprentices sell some pretty good stuff and it isn't very expensive. If I were abs I would have already bought 4-5 pieces. I am pretty sure gold/plat abs (with the occasional obsid) are better than standard silver set that most people use. And when I said cheap I mean 1.5 gold each piece. I spend that much making 3 vials to merely improve my mixing skill
I don't even have smithing practiced, I just feel bad for Barf and Ifrit (known high % smiths) considering all the time and effort they have put in to the smithing trade.
Yeah Chase, blacksmith sells some pretty decent abs, I have bought several pieces.
ifrit had something like 120 bits and no full recipes, I had about 40 bits, and got 5 or 6 matches, and have one recipe 3/4 done. Making bits storable in chests would rock, then clan mates could help out more.
Would it be possible to have smithable items stats posted somewhere, I have bought about 25 pieces of eq and have been sorely dissapointed with about half of them not to mention I have to google names just to know wth it is lol.
Blacksmith doesn't need to sell low end junk like tin, steel, iron eq, are you gonna buy a tin throwing star? I didn't think so, so lets get some decent eq up there on that list but at low %.
a wicked, wide-bladed voulge forged from dark steel 125 ob, 17 lbs, 19-27 damage
I wasted 1.5 gold on a voulge with 3 less ob and .1 lbs more which only creates a str restriction.

None of the above eq is enticing what so ever, adjust eq to a price according to it's pimpness and force people to save their cash to buy something nice.
I've got only a few pieces of recipes so far but I find it a bit strange that there are quite the same pieces from the same sources but for two different types of things. While recipes are a great thing for potions (I really like this idea), in my opinion, learning how to smith could be done differently. What about teacher mobs which would teach you to smith an item in exchange for a completed task?

+1
I definately like this idea!!
the only downside is that koradin put A LOT of time and effort into smithing, it would be a real shame to make redo a key part of it, even though i think it really really really should be done.....

He never sold tin, for the record. However, I agree with you. I've upped his load and upped the cost of the items he sells.
As for the rest of this thread, I agree with a lot of it. The problem here guys is not that the imms aren't listening or don't want to do this stuff - it's that there aren't enough active imms to get the job done. The second we begin a project that people want, three other requests come in.
As for me, I'll change things up however the players want them. But I can only do so much, and there are things I don't have access / cannot do without higher imm approval. There are also coding issues that come up that I can't touch, that end up halting projects until other imms can get online to fix them.

Man if I had a kin credit card I would so be in debt cause I cant live without this stuff lol
mighty plat eq doesnt compare to regular gold eq, lethal plat wpns dont compare to regular weapons, this is just a money sink that leaves the average joe feeling dirty and ripped the fuck off and the bank laughing at our asses.
if the blacksmith sold top eq there would be no point to smithing. I think the main reason for selling these are not to use in battle but to use as raw materials for smithing atm. Which would be great, except that I can't get any recipes

I've raised the load on obsidian recipes from smobs, and also raised the loads of equipment that the blacksmiths make.
Can earning via mining be raised compared to herbalism and skinning?
With herbalism I can hit two zones and yield 5-7 gold within a 30 minute time frame per boot.
With skinning I can earn at minimum one gold per hour.
With mining I can earn 1.4 gold per 3 hours, with having to buy plat picks my expenditure quickly over runs my earnings not to mention having to save for smithing.
Gathering trades should yield gold according to their production trade counterpart.
The mining yield is lower because people can bot it. That being said, I will take another look at the numbers. I implemented scattered mines to deter some of the botting, but maybe I should make it a requirement to use them at higher mining levels and raise the yield.
