There are about 10-12 characters that are statted(with pretty good stats). They are Female and Male characters of both races and all classes. These will be given away on a first come, first serve basis and all will be equipped and ready to go. IP checks will be requested to ensure that all players asking for these are truly new and have no alternatives.
These will be given away for the EVENT ONLY. Whoever receives these characters will be able to keep them to do with as they please, however each person will be allowed 1, and only 1 character.
I'm hoping that we actually get this many new players, although I have my doubts as to whether or not it is possible.
Hopefully all of you are recruiting people for this event, and if you have any that you get let me know and i'll see about gearing them up.

Maybe I'm being a baby but giving prizes to people who win the Arena, when we have no idea what mechanisms there will be, or what the fuck it even is, seems like a dice roll more so than a display of awesomeness.

With such a stereotypically shitty response I have no choice but to come. Perhaps I'm crazy but I'd prefer to know what the Arena will be mechanics wise and make my decision based on if it sounds fun/fair/cool rather then showing up for gimmicks and prizes.

You shoulda done marketing for google+. Would have been something like: we're not going to list any features of our product but we'll give you a free ice cream cone if you invite 100 people. Find me an example of your marketing style in any successful company other than Apple?!?!?
My point is this: it's better to advertise directly and get people who show up because they think the mechanism/idea will be cool rather than getting people to show up for prizes. Oh, and if you had been around enough, you might have been one of the lucky ones allowed to test some of the stuff out. Everything will be explained in full. As a matter of fact, nothing ever had to be explained to me because the instructions are clearly marked out the second you start entering the arena. It's quite easy. Perhaps you should wait to see it before you start your normal pissing and moaning.

1) Find an example of a successful company using this type of marketing.
2) I've been on but was never asked to join since Koradin and I don't get along.
3) As I expected some people will know what's coming while others are left in the dark, giving them an advantage.
4) Asking for things that would result in a higher probability of retaining players doesn't qualify as pissing and moaning.

Just to be clear:
The vast majority of the testing has been done with only my test character, and not with current players.
The Arena is centered around PK, and is pretty straightforward - I wouldn't be worried about anyone having an advantage except those that have never played the game before, and there's not much we can do about that.

Koradin is mistaken. The arena was designed with roleplay in mind. Do not join in unless you are prepared to curtsey to your superiors prior to fleeing from combat.

Why would someone earn anything if they refuse to put anything on the line beit levels, qps, wps, eq, etc? I hate being looted and having clan gear taken but the risk is what makes pk entertaining.

Koradin has taken an idea, and put it into reality, he has put a lot of time and effort into making this, and i think you should just shut the fuck up and thank him for doing something different and exciting for the mud instead of the same old shit...
This is a FUN event to be hosted for the people of the mud, to help reqruit new players to our player base, and for a fun way to introduce new uniques into the game in an exciting way where everyone has a chance to get them... not just the ones who are able to smob till they fall asleep at the keyboard.
