Who killed dodge?
Re: Who killed dodge?
Using what Raiden can do to dodge is a terrible way to try and point out how dodge is underpowered. Im not saying it is or isnt but one has to look at the fact that it could just be that a blademaster with a master weapon in full dodge is overpowered.
Re: Who killed dodge?
My issue is that full dodge isn't dodging. I leave it up to Fogel to determine if that's due to Raiden himself, his master, or whatever for the log snippet I put in. But as a whole its just not me or my log that started this thread. Many people have noticed that bash is very powerful and kills characters like channies so fast that not many people dare to play them. I believe the author of this thread is a channeler, in fact.
If I can't beat a master blademaster 1v1 in melee under any reasonable circumstances than it gets to be pointless to melee at all outside of a group fight. Since ob sucks on sblades I get more hits with kick and projectiles. With a high damage weapon, 1 bash gets me to wounded. 3 to beat, 5 to dead (+/- 1 or 2). If the odds are about 1 in 5 or so that a sword, spear or axe will bash me on average, I would need to be wielding a shocklance to hope to win without using shieldblock, kick or stab to sustain the battle. I cannot melee kill a basher in 5, not even 10 rounds, even with attack. Pstrike works on absers some of the time, and on combo users seldom. On dodgers, it would work better if sblades had some ob but currently its kind of a joke. All in all, the rogue relies on stab to win, but other dodgers want a chance to survive 1v1.
Raiden worked hard for his remort (at least I would think so) and perhaps deserves perks...in fact, I am happy that characters like Raiden, Obould or Nicotine enjoy them. However, my outcry had to do with spears themselves - that here we had a character that could break/bash full dodge with relative ease, even on a patty and could flee charge as well. I couldn't fight the character without one very special technique I won't disclose here, so I had to constantly run. Some say "outplay the remorts", but cmon, most people who have played over five years know how to spam "k dark" around the clock and spend their moments of idle distraction behind a safe clan door. Give me a break! There really is no magic button, and without the help of mobs, there's no recourse but sneaking around hoping your target screws up somehow. It's always possible they will, and in fact lately not a pk session goes by that doesn't have a character with a lot of experience or skill walk into such a trap or nearly do so by the space of a single symbol.
If you feel bash is out of whack with your weapon, I encourage you to test it and log the % after 75 or so. I have done some on my end, but so far I can't tell if the landing rate is due to the character bashing, the weapon, or both.
