Smithable Weapons...

Post by Trezid »

What's the point? this enormous gold-hilted broadsword or whatever completely sucks. less ob than a dagger, no parry so its not a two hander parry sword, bashes worse than a jade sword, and the damage is worse than a jade sword... these smithable weapons really need some looking into folks.

Talking of mining, has the advance mine been moved again? Went to where I thought it was, only to find the door was not there!

But keeping on topic, with C&G in the game once more, just smob for the good stuff :P

intresting you would say "simply from mining" if there is no big pay off whats the point? and i wouldnt say "simply from mining" because its not like it doesnt take time and effort, more time and effort than smobbing takes. so the phrase "simply from mining" is rather dumb. and to answer your question, not I dont expect the ebst weapon, I expect a good weapon for its class, a two handed sword with the same ob as a dagger? limited bashing ability, and sub par damage? its not even worth the time, so if you think so little of mining to say "simply from mining" then yeah I guess it was dumb of me to expect something from the work involved because I thought effort produces valuable reward in most game situations.

I don't know if this is intended, but haughty lord has been loading the smithable club lately. Someone might want to look into that?

complaining and moaning..funny. I was simply asking what the point was, all you had to say was either, the weapon is supposed to be like that, the weapon is fien the way it is, or the weapon may need to be looked at. instead of trying to belittle my opinion by spitting out some crap about how i want a great weapon for little work. funny thing is I don't even use those weapons I simply have one tested it and found it odd that for so much work you are given so little so it turned me off from trying to smith anymore. maybe I was wrong, maybe my voice was spoken in an ill tone I dunno text loses the translation of feeling so how do you know my true intentions of that post, your percieved it as bitching an moaning, when I thought I was simply asking a question. I've played this mud on and off for a very long time almost since day one and a reocurring theme that is to say "We don't need that attitude here" when somone fails to debate things in a sensible manner. good attempt at making me out to be some bad guy though. next time just post "I failed at being original and witty"

I'd suggest mailing your suggestions directly to Koradin, who created the smithing system. While not active at the moment, I suspect that he does check his mail once in awhile, and will probably take your suggestions into consideration when he comes back.

just to get this straight, Mining mite not take any PK experience or any good eq, but it is a hell of alot more time and effort to get those weapons than geting them threw killing some trollocs. Which i find easier even in newbie gear..

Mining does take many, many hours. As it stands right now its far easier to smob for good stuff. The only exception being projectiles, which I find weight me down too much for them to be useful anyway.

smithable spear is not 'near topend' it is topend. it has no flaws as an excellent bashing weapon. I agree with everyone here, mining is time consuming and difficult. I only spent 20 minutes on it but after that time of being hagged 3 times not being able to do anything, attacked twice, and gotten no ore i decided to call it quits.

I'm loving this concept, though mining for all the ingredients is quite time consuming (the exp gains, ter'angreal and the odd crazy mob help break up the monotony a fair bit :D). What I'd like to know though, is if there may be plans for adding craftable armour in the future? It'd be great to see this develop into a fully fledged avenue for getting good equipment, with time/effort playing off against the relative risk of going out to mine for ore.

Yes, there are plans for what you've suggested. The system itself is pending for reconstruction to allow for a more interactive mining system. However, it may be some time before such a reconstruction is completed. Simpler additions such as additional items, as you've pointed out, are definitely a possibility for the near-future.
