a fundamental question

Post by Lamgwin »

does playability overrule what makes roleplay sense, or vice versa?

No, but there is no need to reject RP for nothing.

There are solutions that meet both for all your problems.

You simply make the flat demand of "Make xxx the way I want it NOW!" and doesn't seem to get much constructive criticism.

For example "MAKE TOWER PATTY RIDE" whine could easily be corrected by "Could we please move the patty to a more balanced location?" instead of you demands.

If you think RP is getting in the way of things then suggest constructive remarks that do not go against RP and still work for the game mechanics.

Rhollor, if you wonder why I'm rude to you it's exactly because of posts like these. I didn't whine about sandlayer patty. I pointed out a very blatant inequality in regard to pk balance with ls and ds patties. A tower can be big enough to allow horses to be ridden on top of one. Just because you want everything in your rp world to be set to your expectations doesn't mean other people don't have other roleplay views.

Also, I'd like for Galnor to post an answer on this one please.

P.S.: and nice strawman.

I never said to reject rp, or to treat it as being equivocal to nothing.

I offered constructive remarks in the thread on the sandlayer patty. I pointed out how towers can be big enough to allow horses to go inside them or be ridden on top of them. You ignoring my valid points won't make them go away.

The reason for this post is to point out to you exactly what you're doing and how negative it is towards me and other players.

Edited out the points that could be mailed to Rhollor personally and don't pertain to the question asked in the first post. xo - Myra

Also, Galnor is not the imm that focuses on pk playability. I think that you would be better to want Fogel to answer this question for you if it is as a result of the patty discussion and most likely even if it is not since he is the one who does the balancing in terms of playability, etc.

I'd say, for the most part, yes. But to an extent it depends. This isn't going to become Harry Potter MUD just because A and B would lead to slightly better playability than C and D. Both sides have to give, but I think roleplay will be giving more often than playability by a long shot.
