attracting New players

Post by Aj »

we have a topic on another thread about eq, moral, and ways to attract new players, well dt's are one of my biggest pet peaves and with eq being so damn hard to get they blow hard, and unless I'm mistaken this is a fairly new one, anyways noone was on and nothing to do so I decide to make a new char and level him and test chains some being that after 10 times or so of smobbing mal I finally got one, well not anymore, atm I'm annoyed but some new char loosing their full set would be devastated because of todays eq deficiency.

seriously you guys need to get rid of some of these dt's not add more, they do absolutely nada for the mud and its atmosphere.

A Dark Cavernous Tunnel
Here the crack along the cavern floor has grown wide. A small pool of
mineralized water has formed, and the floor itself is hard to gain ones
footing. The slopping of the floor, causes you to slide toward the light
shinning up from the crack.

A long-bearded caveman approaches you with a toothy grin.
A white stallion has arrived from above.

A Deadly Drop
The glowing of the minerals gives the onlooker his first glimpse at death as he
falls. Sharp stalagmites rise from the seemingly bottomless pit to meet you,
and take your life.
[ Exits: None! ]
You are dead! Sorry...
Crossroads of Fate
WELCOME TO KINSLAYERMUD!

New Players should type: HELP START
Type 'KIT' to be given startup gear.
Say 'Food' to be given some food.

For additional help, type: help <topic>
You may also type "who" and send a player a tell after leaving this room: tell <playername> <message>
[ Exits: n e s w d ]
A smooth stone fountain with an elaborate design is here.
A stone is here, waiting for your complaints.
The Guardian of Life stands here, ever vigilant.

You feel completely drained of all of your strength...

One of the oldest dts, but I completely disagree and detest DT's. All they produce are negativity and utter pointlessness.

They are just plain negative, I've never seen a point nor ever will see a point in them.

I'd understand them if we had too much eq in the game, but we don't...

Emote damage rooms I'm fine with, but deathtraps should get nuked. All they do is piss people off

A couple months ago I convinced a friend to give kinslayer a try. He found the same death trap twice and refuses to ever play a mud again.

Instead, he plays world of warcraft. I actually think it's kind of funny. He wants me to try wow in exchange for him trying mud but I have an excuse: Linux doesn't run wow!

I still cannot possibly see the point in them, if there is any such nit-picking a thing as a DT that could at any length drive a player away, I see it is an enormous fault.

We should be trying our best to keep players here and interested, we should be frantic about scaring them away. Otherwise if I see any concerns for keeping players, I won't understand the hypocrisy.

should make corpses retrievable from them, like the tower one where corpse ends up at the bottom and shit.

Yeah that is what I said to myself when I dted a full set of abs Axxey :P Cause it says your body splatters down in the courtyard below...would be realistic at least ;)

Yeah, I brought a friend here and he's DT'd twice while trying to learn zones, the DT up north of gk, and the DT in tower south of gk... Luckily he's taking it lightly and still willing to try...
