I used to use tick timers, but then I just got tired of all the Tick in 10 sec! and all that jazz and half the time it would get thrown off, then have to reset it after boots and all that. :P

So i'm lazy, now I just use the little clock that wintin.net client has, and I just remember when the tic is.

Or I even use the "time" under mud when on telnet. It's pretty nifty. :P Lot's of spam though.

I use the time under the Wintin.Net client, or my trusty stopwatch. Fancy scripts are for n00bies! :P

See? There's your prime example. Growler is my other apprentice.

I don't have a stopwatch though, so you got me there. Using telnet and the command "time" is the best though! hah!

forgot to add these, these will reset your tick timer on a regular basis so lag wont throw off the timer.

#action {The day has begun.}{ResetTick};
#action {The night has begun.}{ResetTick};

copy into edit box and send.

Whats more spammy than tic in x seconds is you nOObs asking whens tick every few minutes. :P

I memorize it, they always ask me, so it sucks when I have to sit there and add and subtract, when I'm trying to pk at the same time :P

And I didn't think about it, but sometimes the lag does change it by a sec or 2, does this happen much Aj? From what I can tell kinslayer hardly ever has those lag spells that throw it off.

yea about every 10 minutes the mud lags enough to throw my timer off by a second sometimes two and after 4 hours + of pking my timer is worthless without resetting it or using the reset tick triggers.

Just to inform you Vurek, but right before the server going down, there were like major major lag spikes in case you weren't there. Was sick :P

Nod.

You should see my dial up. Sometimes, about half the time when I just connected to dial up, and then I connect to kinslayer a couple seconds later, I get insane lag spikes for the next 5-10 minutes.

I'm talking huge lag spikes that would make wotmudders wince. I've accidently gotten killed before just due to not being able to see what is loading once I get on a character :D

The other day I had a 1 min spike at gap, came back bashed and 200 hps lower :D

Rarely happens, but it's always a joy!

Not to mention, I can't see shit when I chase on dial up, I just look for red *xxx* and chase. heh, it's rather silly

another advantage of a tick timer is when you are getting horrible lag, if your timer is still consistent then you know the lag is on your end and not the mud.
