I do not know the exact variables at which the current system is set when someone dies, but this is how I've seen in my experience:
PK rip, very minimal exp loss.
Mob rip, very very very high exp loss.
Maybe pk rips could be raised or stayed the same, and I talked with a few imms who still think exp loss is there for a price to pay when a player dies.
I understand the price of death, and that makes sense to me.
But I believe the current mob rips to be way too high.
The price of one person pking and offering fun pk with other pkers, then to die to mobs as a result of a few minutes of pk to then have to spend 10+ hours exping to regain the lvl, that is very costly.
Valen suggested perhaps a 10% exp loss of 1 lvl. So if I was lvl 50 I'd lose 10% of 100M which is 10M. That is still an hour of 2 of waiting for repops of exp zones.
Anything within that range I'd measure to be reasonable and worthy, but as it is this just bloody kills me and I'm sure other players.
Experience loss
My Trolloc thief has just hit level 45, so now requires 498 mil xp to level 50. The thought of xping that much fills me with dread and the inevitable boredom that will bring. To lose 50 mil per death is even scarier.
Xp needs to be addressed when we have such large targets to achieve. We need either more high xp giving mobs (and I mean lots!) or some sort of level based xp multiplier. As it stands I cant be bothered xping any more due to the lack of mobs, their insane defences and the whole boredom factor.
