.:Based on the Wheel of Time Series:.
Once you have connected to kinslayermud.org at port 2222 make up a character name at the prompt. You will then be asked to set a password for your character. You will be asked if you wish to be male or female (don't worry there are no sex maluses). When asked to choose a race, we'd suggest you pick human, just because there's more land to explore and easier to get equipment.
You have three types of character's to choose from: warrior, ranger, thief, and soon channeler!
"Now it is time for you to setup your character's status points. To increase a status point, simply type the first letter of the stat type you wish to increase, followed by a '+' sign. So for example, if you wish to increase your strength, you would type 's+'. The same goes for decreasing, except you use a '-' sign('s-'). When you have the stats you desire, simply type 'done'
Current Stats: Str: 10[20], Int: 10[10], Wis: 10[20], Dex: 10[10], Con: 10[20] 360 points remaining. Type 'done' when you are finished."The stats above stand for the following (put your mouse over each to see what they do):
| Str: | Strength |
| Int: | Intelligence |
| Wis: | Wisdom |
| Dex: | Dexterity |
| Con: | Constitution |
Depending on if you chose a warrior, ranger, or thief, you may want to read the documentation on each to see how to set it up. In any case once you are happy with the stats that you’ve chosen simply type, “done” and you will enter the game.
When first entering the game you will be sent to the “Crossroad of Fate”. Type “Kit” to receive a starter’s kit. From the crossroads you may reach Tar Valon by going north, Lugard by going east, Fal Moran by going south, White Bridge by going west and Caemlyn by going down.
We’d suggest you start off by going down to Caemlyn. You may click here to view the map to see how to navigate the city.
From the center square head west to practice ride, and your sword.
*You may see what you can practice by typing “practice” at each of the practice areas (there are three, one for each class: warrior, ranger, and thief). Even if you are a thief, you may still practice warrior skills however they will cost you extra “practice points”. You gain extra practice points at every level. *
Head to the stables (N 2E S of the center square), and pick yourself a horse, if there is none that’s OK you can walk to where you’re going.
Go out the south gate (if it is closed you can simply "call" the gate open) and wander around the area. You will encounter meese, deer and other sorts of animals. To see if you can take them on, you can consider them to see if they’re at your level. To do this simply type “considers xxx”. E.g “consider deer”. You will get a response such as “The perfect match!”, this will tell you that you can take him. If you try a moose at level 1, you will get “You would need a lot of luck and great equipment!” Perhaps you should wait until you’ve gained some more experience. If ever you attack something too strong for you, you can run away by using the "flee" command. This will make you run away in a random direction, careful that your enemy does not track!
You can check how many experience points you need to reach the next level by typing "score". Your score will also indicate what level you are at right now. Another nifty command is "stat". This will show you your stats, your age, offensive bonus, dodge bonus and parry bonus. To see who’s online, type “who”. Perhaps one of them may be able to help you, type “whois playername” to see what level they are. To find out other useful commands you can type "help" in the game.
Congratulations you’ve taken your first steps into the Kinslayer World. Keep exploring around the area to discover new areas to gain experience. Once you have enough experience you will advance to a higher level. At every level you will gain more hit points, and will receive more practice points. Along the way you might find people, or things that have some better equipment, be careful though it might be another player!
