Our caravan finally will leave the Spine this day. I eagerly look forward to showing my son and heir the wonders of the lands to the West. Of the 30 initial pack animals, only 27 remain, but they are not overburdened as consumed supplies allowed a shifting of goods. By good fortune we have lost no one so far, though there are a few sick and have taken to riding all day in instead of sparing their horses.

A strange sickness has affected the caravan. It started off with just one man coming down with a cold, and it has spread. Even the pack mules and horses have become ill. This is not a good place for a long stop so we must push on until we reach one.

I have neglected my journal as the journey has become quite hard. We still have people growing sick and even a couple have died, but the healer has assured me they were all the older ones so while it is concerning, it is not overly so as of yet. We continue on the best we can. This is a hard land these mountains, but the are beautiful as well.
