Though some GMOs are fine. It's more the deregulation of GMOs, Corporations (including banks and phone companies), and other similar stuff that I hate on. Tuiton at university level was once upon a time free in California... only 30 or so years ago. Now, they are charging students up to over 30k a year. Commertial Banks and Investment Banks were firewalled from each other by the Glass Steagall Act of 1933 until the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act repealed and replaced it in 1999, severely deregulating corporate greed.
Ronald Reagan encouraged supply-side economics, preaching "government is the problem... you know how to spend your money better than the government." He cut the existing taxes on the richest from where they were at in America (81% tax on the highest portion of the wealth) to 21%. Currently, we are at about 31%? We seem go back and forth around 20 to 30% with each presidency, but no one has had the audace to bring it back up to where it was, at 81%... I'm talking about progressive taxes, by the way. About supply-side economics, it sais if you give more money through tax-cuts to the big corporations, they will invest and create more jobs for the working class. Hence the mentality "Big corporations are good for America."
Supply-side economics is also called "trickle-down theory". It does not work, because the big corporations already have a lot of wealth to invest with, and yet they sit on it. Also, the majority of job opennings are created through small businesses, not big businesses. Which leads me to encourage Demand-side economics. Demand-side Economics sais that rather than investing in big companies, you need to invest in the buyers. For example, Pres. Roosevelt created government jobs for people following the Demand-Side economics. By creating jobs, you put more money into circulation; people who actually need money have more money to spend, and therefore can go to coffee shops or buy gadgets now because they can afford it, hence allowing business to flourish.
About Ronald Reagan's claim "government is the problem... you know how to spend your money better than the government"... He's claiming that people know how to build roads, build infrastructure, fund schools, fun social programs, and so forth better than the government. I strongly disagree with his opinion.
Currently, both the Democratic and the Republican parties are freaking corrupt. Both parties serve corporate needs, and not daily Americans.

And, to top it off, there is strong "voter Alienation". This means a lot of voters do not show up. In fct, most people don't even know to show up at the mid-term elections for Congress members, yet Congress is where the legislation is created.
