Roleplay

Hey fuckwits. Pay attention.
I was going to post this 24 hours ago but my internet decided to die and its currently still dead but I am using my phone which has shit all reception to tether it to my PC. Anyway...
So people seem to be debating all this shit about male channelers and trying to justify their arguments with roleplay and I'm not talking about the bedroom kind.
Want to know about some real roleplay though? Male channelers were hunted in the books because they were dangerous, they went crazy with taint and posed a threat not just to themselves but the general public. They weren't hunted for any other reason as far as I am aware unless you think of all the crazy KKK style RP of CoL in the southern states of this great nation uhhh anyway, whatever.
Now, on THIS game. Sure, its WoT themed but the history is still there to be told by the players - that's why we have statues of people like Clark and Bollesedun along gap. So, its open to variation/interpretation and that's not even going into the various worlds of "if" or dimensional worlds within the wheel of time that we also all knew existed.
What I am getting at here though is that male channelers are no more or less dangerous than female ones in this world. In the books taint was also circumvented along with the existence of the Black Tower. So don't tell me its not possible because there is no evidence of men going mad on this game except maybe Jerez (he gets pretty mad) but no less mad than the kind of mad I've seen men who don't channel get. So really the White Tower has absolutely no justification whatsoever based on roleplay to hunt these men because they simply are not going mad.
Why would they hunt innocent men then? Surely that goes against their own oaths?
Provide evidence and I feel the playerbase will support you. Provide hearsay about roleplay with no evidence and you will get a conflicted split response from the playerbase. You can't just say "Oh we don't like them/its a class war".
Do you guys want to hunt male channelers? If not then leave them alone, but if you do I suggest the immortals implement some kind of actual taint and have a means for male channelers to acquire immunity whether that be through some clan or going darkfriend or hugging enough trees in a stedding... If we saw this happen and a Black Tower with a dragon surfaced, would there then be potential for cooperation between the ying and the yang? Who could say? Anyway, not like its going to happen any time soon.
However as people have pointed out if you want to look at the timeline vs the books there are some aspects which make it post-rand and the only person making claims that its pre-rand is Chase. I think the biggest aspect though is that rand simply doesn't exist on this game and if there is/was a Black Tower which people keep asking me about then surely its an indicator that it's post-rand. Another thing is that in the books MCs were significantly more powerful than FCs but here they're equal. If you were to have them hunted then I would like to see the implementation of some significant perks to make them worth playing over an FC. Why would anyone play an MC when they can play an FC who is exactly the same in every aspect except they're not being hunted all the time ? It doesn't make sense.
Another thing is you people are bitching about PK balance. Let me tell you some real facts. Currently there are a lot more active FCs than MCs. Why you ask? People will always play the characters they enjoy playing the most and for a lot of people (including Chase baby) getting an Aes Sedai or whatever is a desirable thing to achieve. Who could blame them? Its a pretty pimp thing in the books after all. So do you REALLY think that hunting MCs is going to change the amount of channelers overall in PK? Of course not, if anything the people who currently play MCs will just play their FCs more often. Not to mention Chase doesn't want MCs being hunted in the Borderlands when trollocs are around.
Now to an actual balance issue - do we actually have a problem? I mean really. Channelers are useless 1vs1 against non-channelers, I think we can all agree. Really, when was the last time a channeler killed any competent PKer 1vs1? Probably ages ago, or maybe inside a door with lots of mobs, I donno but it wasn't me. However, channelers have ALWAYS been good in group PK because you have other bitches to split the defense/buff/take some hits for you etc. So for a long period I feel the mud was sooo dead if we got PK at all it was very small numbers. Now we actually have enough for real group fights, channelers are starting to shine again. People just need to adjust, get used to it, change their PK style/strategy. The other day I know Crunch died but we were all quite low/tapped and had you guys come back to hit you probably would have ripped 2 of us even at mobs because we had focused Crunch > everyone else.
Also my bitching over the past year or so was mostly because there wasn't any group PK and channelers were rendered more and more useless by bash changes and weave changes but the only PK happening was 1vs1 which they weren't any good at since they lost bash malus.
And Semper/Kyrana, whats the deal with the whiny "she's not my friend anymore" pre-teen posts on roleplay boards? Can't we all just be friends?
PS.
My feelings are nothing will change with regards to taint/MCs because its too much effort.
Players will forever feel like hunting MCs is totally ridiculous.
Last time Ciarra tried to RP some shit with me she ended up lecturing me, lying through her nose, throwing unsubstantiated accusations around and then stormed off.
So, if the White Tower had a more accomodating/diplomatic leader, perhaps a better solution could be reached.
