Yea, I noticed last night while in a fight with a mob that if I was in the middle of trying to bash said mob and I used the score command that it canceled the bash attempt. Not sure why it does this or if it even should. Gimme some feed back plase

i think its allways done that and i don't think its a bug but i think it should get changed since looking at your score/stats isnt a player movement or have anything to do with what the character is doing so i don't think typing score/stat should interupt what you are doing.
not a bug but maybe something that can get changed.

Don't think this is going to be changed. The point of timers is to make you risk yourself by not allowing you to be aware of your surroundings, so you might be vulnerable to attack.
So in a nutshell, Serena. It is supposed to do that.

The reason i ask is because score has nothing to do with combat other then checking your hp. That and exp, stuff like that. Plus you can still talk while trying to bash and I would think that would need to affect bash timers if something like score would.

Being able to check your HPs or MVs mid-bash would be a definite advantage in fast-paced PK.

Seeing as you can already tell if your beaten, cirtical, ect.. i don't see why you shouldn't be able to see the numbers which imo are WAY more reliable then just a desc of your curent state

I don't think you can input any commands while bashing without interrupting the timer.

Thats exactly Nico's point Serena. It forces you to become more vulnerable to gain something like bashing an opponent.

That's exactly why you shouldn't be able to. If you're critical and going for the all-or-nothing bash or two to end it, and you see that you have 3 HP instead of the 43 you thought you had, you might cancel the bash and flee out instead.

This would be the equivalent to a stabber being able to check the WHERE command mid-stab-timer to make sure he or she is hidden.

I just don't see what the difference is. That and i've played a lot of muds over the last 8 years and i've never seen one that would cancel a skill by using the score command. And to be honest, if your in a bash attempt, you shouldn't be able to feel until the bash timer has completed the attempt. By using score, it allows people to stop an attempt at something to flee which is defeating the purpose anyway. So really, it should be removed so that way score doesn't cancel it and you have to risk the bash attempt once started. *shrugs* just my 2 cents.

Alder is right, any command will cancel the timer. Although you bring up an interesting idea. To have to complete any timer you start would mean a lot more stab deaths though.

that a good idea, not being able to flee untill bash counters over. and non character command like score shouldnt interupt your own timer

Um, you can tell how low you are at critical based off of how many times you've been hit since you became critical. Not an exact number, but you know if you're likely one hit from dead, or a couple.

I think the fact of the matter is that this is how our MUD operates and will continue to operate.

Then just say that instead of making up weird analogies that don't make sense. I'd rather you and others post an honest answer than make up reasons. So thanks for being honest.

The first response....

Nvm... its useless.

Because it says the point of timers is to make you risk yourself? If i'm critical, and I've been hit twice, I don't need to hit score to know I need to flee instead of not bashing

. Even if I did hit score and saw that, oh shit, I have 3 hps, I'd probably be hit by another round of melee by this point.
So that's why I was saying to make the "I think the fact of the matter is that this is how our MUD operates and will continue to operate." post right at the beginning instead of trying to make up reasons on the spot.
So yes, you are right. It's useless to try and argue when I've already said thank you for finally posting an honest response.
