New player recruitment...

I think we should make a push to get our average nightly numbers up by about 5.

I was thinking that offering some kind of substantial in-game incentive would be a good way of doing this.

An idea I had recently would be a one-time thing where if you get two people to play here consistently for two weeks, then you get a 1 pt stat increase on an alt of your choosing not to exceed maximum stats for the class.

Just an idea... its getting stale here, we need some fresh meat

I like it! Except that no one I know will ever play.

And eventually all of the old players or the ones with a lot of friends will have superstats and everyone else will be left in their wake. :P

I do agree that something could be done to encourage people to get their friends to play, but that's a little over the top imo.

Besides, people should WANT their friends to play just so that they'll play. If we offer prizes we'll just have a bunch of people spamming other people to log on for two weeks to benefit themselves.

Stat increases aren't going to happen. I will continue to set exp multipliers and load cool items when we get a lot of players, but rewards that only benefit one person do not seem appropriate.

I said one time. and not beyond max stats.

A lot of the old players here settled for slightly less than max stats. 1 stat point wouldn't be overpowering, but it would be permanent and it would be something that might actually motivate people to recruit.

I mean, its not like we would be offering something that they can just restat for (even though it wound up taking me about 3 weeks to restat).

cause my ko'bal is old and stated before the changes to stats and crap he is shy max stats, but imms have offered to let me restat.

old alts isn't an excuse for this

but the push for players is good, the people that play this mud lots should be pushing player promotion anyways, we dont need rewards and like fogel said, the xp multiplyers and eq loads is good

I also like more rare/unique loads!

Try thinking of things that would get the newbies to stay. ;)

In the meantime, I suggest you all go take a look at the Getting Started forum and post tips on the new thread I just made or just help newbies with questions (encourage your newbie friends to post questions there when you aren't online!) How-to guides are always much appreciated as well.
