We are in the process of creating the weaves to populate our channeling system, and have decided to give you -- the players -- a unique opportunity to change the course of the mud. Each weave has a variety of messages that it sends when it succeeds, fails, etc. This is your chance to write those messages!

The process is simple; I will give a list of possible weaves to message along with some guidelines of how to do it, and you simply need to create messages for it. Submit as many or as few as you want.

Message Outline:

There are essentially eight types of messages:

To caster
To caster if the weave is failed
To victim
To victim if failed
To victim if inverted
To room
To room if failed
To room if inverted

Note: For a significant portion of the weaves, there is no victim, so you can simply omit those messages.

The inverted messages happen when the inverted power effect is applied to a channeler -- you cannot see the source of the weave. In these cases simply don't mention the channeler's name. Don't use "Someone", instead simply make the weave have no apparent source.

For the portions that are replaced in the messages, simply put what you want replaced in caps. e.g. NAME, HIMHER, SOURCE_TYPE (Saidin/Saidar)

Example:

"Fireball"
You launch an enormous fireball at VICTIM!
You attempt to conjure an fireball, but it fizzles out.
NAME launches an enormous fireball at you!
NAME waves HISHER hands wildly, but fails to produce anything.
A fireball materializes suddenly and covers you with liquid flame!
NAME launches an enormous fireball at VICTIM!
NAME waves HISHER hands wildly, but fails to produce anything.
A fireball materializes suddenly and covers VICTIM with liquid flame!

Flare -- Temporary lightball/lantern
Create water
Weaken -- remove str
Enlarge -- adds height/weight
Flash Fire -- damage
Light Ball
Heat Dry -- remove the 'wet' effect
Agility -- add db
Fumble -- remove dex
Rock Explosion -- damage
Strength -- add str
Air Blast -- dmg
Deluge -- adds the 'wet' effect
Feeble Healing
Cure Confuse -- remove 'confused' effect
Hurl Boulder -- damage

Parch -- make very thirsty

Note: These are not all the weaves. I have saved the really juicy ones for later!

Possible messages for call lightning.
To caster:
You spread your hands wide, and call upon SAIDAR/SAIDIN as there is a brief silence before a sheet of blinding lightning flashes down, striking XXX!
To caster if failed:
You spread your hands wide, and call upon SAIDAR/SAIDIN as there is a brief silence before a sheet of blinding lightning flashes down, nearly killing you!

To victim:
XXX spreads HIS/HER hands wide, making some strange gestures before you notice a blinding flash of light strike you head on!

To victim if failed:
XXX spreads HIS/HER hands wide, making some strange gestures before you notice a blinding flash of light strike the ground right next to HIM/HER!

To victim if inverted:
The heavens roar and suddenly you are blinded by a bright flash of light which strikes you head on!

To room:
XXX spreads HIS/HER hands wide, making some strange gestures before you notice a blinding flash of light strike XXX head on!

To room if failed:
XXX spreads HIS/HER hands wide, making some strange gestures before you notice a blinding flash of light strike the ground right next to HIM/HER!

To room if inverted:
The heavens roar and suddenly you are blinded by a bright flash of light which strikes XXX head on!

Possible Rock Explosion messages:

To caster:
You kneel and place your hand on the ground, focusing all your energy into the grains of stone. Suddenly the ground beneath XXX's feet erupts in an explosion of rock and debris!

To caster if failed:
You kneel and place your hand on the ground, focusing all your energy into the grains of stone. But you are distracted and severed from SAIDAR/SAIDIN.

To victim:
XXX kneels and places HIS/HER hand on the ground, their brow tense in concentration. Suddenly the ground beneath your feet erupts in an explosion of rock and debris!

To victim if failed:
XXX kneels and places HIS/HER hand on the ground, their brow tense in concentration. XXX pauses for a moment and seems to lose HIS/HER focus.

To victim if inverted:
The ground beneath your feet begins to rumble as it erupts in an explosion of rock and debris!

To room:
XXX kneels and places HIS/HER hand on the ground, their brow tense in concentration. Suddenly the ground beneath XXX's feet erupts in an explosion of rock and debris!

To room if failed:
XXX kneels and places HIS/HER hand on the ground, their brow tense in concentration. XXX pauses for a moment and seems to lose HIS/HER focus.

To room if inverted:
The ground beneath your feet begins to rumble as it erupts below XXX in an explosion of rock and debris!

FEAR

To caster:
Your weave fills XXX with overwhelming panic and paranoia.

To caster if the weave is failed:
XXX is unaffected by your attempt to scare them.

To victim:
You are suddenly overcome with a dread feeling of fear as XXX locks eyes with you.

To victim if failed:
You laugh in the face of XXX, their attempt to frighten failing miserably.

To victim if inverted:
You break out in a cold sweat, as if gripped by an unknown doom.

To room:
XXX face pales, as a sudden and unavoidable demise grasps them.

To room if failed:
XXX stoically shrugs off XXX attempt to scare them.

To room if inverted:
Wildly looking around, XXX tries to avoid an unseen terror.

Very good, keep them coming!

Possible messages for Hurl Boulder:

To caster:
The ground beside you begins to crack and you raise your hand slowly, bringing forth an enormous chunk of stone. Thrusting your hand towards XXX the boulder races toward HIM/HER, smashing into them at full speed!

To caster if failed:
The ground beside you begins to crack and you raise your hand slowly, bringing forth an enormous chunk of stone. You thrust your hand toward XXX but the boulder comes crashing down before it reaches HIM/HER.

To victim:
The ground beside XXX begins to crack as HE/SHE raises their hand slowly, bringing forth an enormous chunk of stone. XXX thrusts HIS/HER hand in your direction, the boulder races through the air at full speed as it smashes into you!

To victim if failed:
The ground beside XXX begins to crack as HE/SHE raises their hand slowly, bringing forth an enormous chunk of stone. XXX thrusts HIS/HER hand in your direction, the boulder races through the air but crashes into the ground before it has a chance to strike you.

To room:
The ground beside XXX begins to crack as HE/SHE raises their hand slowly, bringing forth an enormous chunk of stone. XXX thrusts HIS/HER hand in XXX's direction, the boulder races toward HIM/HER, smashing into them at full speed!

To room if failed:
The ground beside XXX begins to crack as HE/SHE raises their hand slowly, bringing forth an enormous chunk of stone. XXX thrusts HIS/HER hand in XXX's direction, the boulder races through the air but crashes into the ground before striking XXX.

To victim if inverted:
You hear the ground ahead of you begin to crack as an enormous chunk of stone lifts into the air. The boulder begins to race through the air and smashes into you at full speed!

To room if inverted:
You hear the ground ahead of XXX begin to crack as an enormous chunk of stone lifts into the air. The boulder begins to race through the air and smashes into XXX at full speed!

I believe Armor should be renamed. Why would something called Armor make you dodgier? I always thought that it was nonsensical on the other MUD, so why copy a 'mistake', as I see it, and put it here? I think something more along the lines of 'Quicken Reflexes' would be better. Doesn't matter if that's chosen, but it should be something other than Armor.

I agree also. I have temporally changed armor's name to Quicken, but it is not permanent if a better name is suggested.

Yeah, that's what I thought I remembered, Ravir, after I had posted. I'd say that's a better option than Armor, Quicken, or Quicken Reflexes. BTW, it's true that people do their best thinking in the shower. I remembered Agility when I was in the shower. Lol.

What, no tornado?

Remember, Narg said not all weaves are listed. So that's a maybe.

Flare

To caster:
A glowing, red sphere of energy materialises in front of you, lighting the surroundings.

To caster if failed:
A glowing, red sphere of energy appears for a moment but then flickers and dissipates.

To victim:

To room:
XXX concentrates as a red sphere of energy appears before HIM/HER.

To room if failed:
XXX loses HIS/HER concentration as a glowing sphere of energy flickers but then disappears.

Take into account that I intentionally censored a significant portion of the really 'cool' weaves. We need some surprises!
