Lances are currently being loaded into the game so keep an eye out.

6 pulses seems way to long, 4 would be alot better.

Lances really load somewhere? I checked every shop and every smob from ls to ds.

Looks like ds will be skewering much sooner than ls will be charging, unless you were speaking of those wooden jousting lances.

dmg is pretty horrible on all weapons I have tested, best skewer thus far I have taken a tree to high wounded.

have tested heavy steel spear, ruby tipped, and tough stone, tough stone has horrible % chance of landing.

haven't seen anyone on ls to smob with. are they going to load on soloable smobs? i suggest corin and gorel be brought back in game because most i've seen on ls is 3, one of them being a newbie, and 2 can't really take much. why is it that trolls get spears when there's a ton of them in game and humans get lances that weren't even imp'ed in game? why can't we just charge/skewer with both...


I checked SK out. couldn't kill him of course but when i checked him out he does have a lance. a 'thick metal lance' doesn't look too hot though. couldn't really test it because noone was online....

I have soloed sk with mercs, just give them scythes and 250 def sets, but you have to be in pimp dodge as well.

i don't know how good a 'curved silver lance' is supposed to be but this charge damage stinks!

I would like to see them land against dodge a bit more. More damage wouldn't be bad either.

Please understand these things cant be tested by the lone person who made them, me, to their full extent. If you feel they need changes please just post your opinions and not in a negative comment. I made them rather quickly guessing what might be good. Leave comments, there are more lances loading but Im not going to load the best 100%. If lances are changed those that are the 'best' right now will be upped to be the best, and will try to keep things in the upped equivilant. Spears also need tweaking so if anyone has comments from those as well would be appreciated.

And Trin, I will be most adiment(sp) about not allowing Corin and Gorel back in game for anything if it comes into discussion. You can easily get a workable set for each of the mercenaries with a little work. If it does crash it is possible for an immortal to get your equipment back from them if you get them quick enough after a crash. (Maybe not Danir cause I lost some scripts and havent remade them)

why can't they just be equiped in decent sets at the beginning instead of in crap?

the problem with lances is, well, they should have been in game a long time ago so we could have gotten them before now. now us humans are screwed over because barely anyone plays anymore, the pbase has slowly dwindled down to only a few online at a time. and now us humans need to do a bunch of work for our lances while trolls have their spears already.

With a ruby tipped lance I was charging for 150+. Nothing spectacular, but it was still on par with a sapphire dagger's stab.

Blackened spears don't skewer particularly well either. Testing the one I have on DS, it seems to average under 100 hps.

thick metal lance and long light lance are pretty much the same as curved silver lance. crap.

Light long lance:

Low ob. about 110 while stone spear which was considered low ob gave about 127 ish. 8 lbs so you can't bash with it. bad damage. two handed can't wear a shield with it and it only gives 15 lbs. so i don't know what this lance is supposed to be a switching weapon something you can carry around and switch to? unfortunately the charge sucks on it as well...

Thick metal lance:

Haven't tested much except it's ob is just about as good as light long lance and it has bad damage. however it is 15 lbs. not a parry weapon.

Curved silver lance:

probably the best of the bunch only thing i can complain about is ob is again same as the other lances and bad charge damage.

Ruby tipped lance:

Never used but edgar says charge is better than the rest.(as in it can actually charge for 100+!) but again low ob with only 125 ish ob.

Your log doesnt exactly help me any. I have no idea what lance that is, but I will assume you found the absolute worst one... Like I said when lances are upped(and yes they most probably will be) then everything will be upped. The few lances we have right now limits us to the variation of stats etc that I put in, not to mention that I can only load 3 weapons per mob and not every smob can load lances...

my logs are of curved silver lance but it doesn't matter. none of those lances can charge for more than 100 damage.

granted my strength is really low that's still pretty bad

I did not see much wrong with curved silver being that its one handed so you were pulling 128 pb with gold shield and 114 ob seems pretty good.

How is 114 ob good? i don't understand that. I don't even know what to respond to that. every single weapon i've used except for this lance has had better ob than that and you say it's pretty good? even ash club gave 130 ob and that was considered the crappiest part of the weapon. (also ash club was more weight and more pb. if you check it's 11 pb for this weapon while ash club gives 15 pb.) also 1h swords give better pb, ob, and damage, this than weapon so saying it shouldn't have good ob because it's one handed is ridiculous. why are you arguing that that ob is good when you know it's not? are you just trying to piss me off?

oh FUCK IT. why do i even bother trying to make this game better when noone even listens to me even though my advice is good. why do people say to post it on these goddamn forums if noone takes the suggestion? the person that told me to post in the first place is arguing that a crappy weapon is good. i don't even know why i bother playing this fucking game when people just want to be the devil's advocate and argue with you! CHARGE SUCKS BECAUSE LANCES SUCK. because you tested skewer and a spear had some good damage on it DOES NOT MEAN THAT CHARGE IS THE SAME WAY.

Damage in general needs to be upped a bit I think. This game was a lot more fun when someone could get off a charge or stab and instantly kill you; the way it is now, anyone can run around as long as they want and not die. I want to see blicks from healthy again!

Historically lances were not melee weapons. If a charge landed on an opponent the lance usually disinetgrated and threw the opponent to the ground, where either a sword/mace/flail was then used.
For game mechanics however, having a lance destroyed is not feasible due to the limited amount in circulation at the moment. A low ob for any lance is a good thing but maybe the damage could be better reflected through the quality of the lance and the skill of the user. ie best lance+99% charge = death/near death in terms of hp loss.
This would of course mean a careful selection of pracs for humans wishing to charge (except warriors who should and do naturally excel in all weapons).
As for Trollocs and skewer. Damage should be nowhere as comparable to a lance, with best spear+99% skewer doing at most half the maximum damage that the best lance setup would give.

i beleive both stab and charge damage should be uped by 50%damage maybe give them a wider range, and i beleive charge should be downed 1 pulse.

Dimmu's idea is exactly where I was coming from with the lower ob as well as lower melee dmg, cause you really cant feasibly fight someone with a long lance imo. I did, it seems, understate the charge dmg. Gimme a day and Ill hopefully have a new modem, Ill test charge some more, make some more lances and up charge dmg.

One question I have though, should all lances have two hand flag, with mid-good parry? Or should some be one handed like jousting knights as I see it always used shields so... thoughts on defensive pary of lances. Im pretty sure I got your opinions on offensive

Spears will take me more time, because I havent test them at all.

Another thing is are you guys still unsatisfied with landing rates? And whats the best lance you've guys found yet? Ive only seen about the 3rd or 4th best lance out of 8 in this thread.
