Getting this game rolling...

I think experience needs to be looked at. As the way exp stands right now, I think new characters should be given triple exp till level 30, then double exp till level 40, then normal exp till level 50. This would make it more like the old mud in terms of exp, but it would still give higher levels something to do when nothing is going on. We need to make exp easy enough so people can level to pk-ready status quickly. After all, this is a pk mud.

I agree. other things that could be improved on:
Bring back stat system
I don't know about all of you but i had no problem whatsoever with this statting system. It wasn't that hard to get playable stats or better stats and it isn't like wotmud where you have to play seriously days on end to get super stats. If you want it so that people that don't have much time to play can have same stats as everyone else than that's fine. but exp and equiping yourself is hard as it is. and at the moment everyone is a 'cookie cutter' character. maybe there should be a way to, after the fact, get more stats. because at the moment you can play a really good abser or a mediocre dodger. Unless trying to make dodgers a sort of 'elite' character to play.
Goals
We need goals. everyone likes to work to something. makes it feel important to play the game instead of just wasting your time on something that doesn't matter. for example: implementing clans so people can work towards those elite races and the master. but more than that we need more goals and i hope people will think up some good ones.
Goals that could be implemented: player owned houses, pretitles, stuff like this.
Another idea that could come with player houses is the ability for other people to raid them making it a sort of ctf sort of thing.
I hope other people can think up some other ideas that maybe the immortals will implement. I would love to see this mud do well.

maybe have houses that you can buy for gold, and then if they get raided and taken over, you can control as many as you have resources for.... you buy mercenaries and guards to keep control of your manors...

In order to attain some sort of balance in the old stat system (if we ever revert back to that). It would never be anywhere near as good as how it used to be. We would have to make getting superstats very hard. We would not however follow WoTMUD's stupidity and have you constantly roll 15's all over the board.
This new stat system guarantee's you playable stats. It's not without it's flaws and I'm open to hearing any suggestions. However reverting back to a system where it's 19 19 18's all over is highly unlikely.

I say we go with my idea that's posted somewhere, whereas we keep the cookiecutter stat system, and then once you get level 50, you get like 50 million exp to level each time, but you stop gaining levels, you start gaining points, which you can apply to pracs or stats.

I must disagree with you Nicotine, your system would require everyone to play hours on end each week just to compete with you hardcore mudders, I liked alot of the old system that allowed everyone to compete with limited time invested in each charcter.

Wanna get this game going, exp gain needs to be upped, equipment needs to me more readliy available.
People who enjoy having low end eq and wasting days upon days doing the same thing over and over (exp) already have a mud home, WOTMUD!

it took me 3 hours to get level 30, maybe it be better if darkside blight trees didn't assist against dark side? that way they could kill them, they are like 900k exp

I really think one of the major reasons why most of the old players arent playing (even those who already have a char atm) is because of clans. With no clans most players feel no reason to play after they have leveled to 50 and a decent set. Even if someone isnt clanned, they will play to be active and to give a good impression to the clanned on their side so that they too may be clanned.
Once clans open up, I know many players, including myself, will feel more inclined to play.

I guess the main reason I do not play atm is time. I dont seem to have any of that. Or really an internet connection at home. And I can not mud from work. Once things are alot more balanced out and everything is implemented and working etc I might make more of an effort to log on etc etc. ATM I do not really feel that inclined to play just because of all the little things. And its just not the same without Bolles.

It's just not the same without you either Canni. It's been nearly 2 years since we used to pk side by side every damn evening.
Now I'm practically pking side by side with someone I used to pk against every day 2 years ago
I'll be waitin for your return Canni, have fun till then

I think my exp would go much faster if blight trees didnt group cause while they do, I have to go back to keep and sleep for like 7 ticks to heal back up from killing one set. That sounds like a good idea

Yes, definately would make DS exping more on par with LS. LS exp is very nice, so is DS, but right now ls is a little faster and easier.
And that's a very big improvement, and much more enjoyable and player friendly.

Yeah the new Xp was a great thing. It took me alot less time to get to an almost PK level, which I enjoy. Now I can smob etc. On LS and DS, so I do not have to sink as much time into xping just to play, I can actually get around to playing. And while were at it, can anyone tell me exactly which DS smobs load trinkets.

If you stab DS is much easier XP
but then stabbing is as always easiest XP after lvl14 or so.
what happened to lizard men by skeletal knight? they were quite good mid range XP but got taken out without a replacement

DS has smobs? We're down to 1 in our territory (spymaster and renegade commander are both gone), and the two Gap-ish smobs don't load particularly well. I'd say northern smobs need to be looked at.
