Resets (BE CIVILIZED!)

ok so i read the whole resets thread and i wanted to put my two cents in because it was a very good subject, as it pertains to the future of this mud. please, if this thread doesnt become locked right away, do not jump at each others' throats here. i would really like to hear more on this.
Ok, so on Nicotine, as leader of Ko'bal I have taken it upon myself to make clanning into Ko'bal really difficult (which in turn has gotten people really pissed off at me because all the other clans are fairly easy entry.)
When I joined Kinslayer this time around, scalps were worth 2 and I have gathered 917 qps now (master rank 8 is 1100). On old kinslayer, I had a little over 1200, and I admit qps were easier to get back in those days. However, 1200 was still a feat and I had been introduced to mastery and greyman.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, wiping qps again would be devastating for me. I really do not want to stop playing this game, but if I have to start over again I don't know if I'm gonna want to.
I realize this probably sounds really whiny and babyish but it's just my 2 cents. I think wiping everything is fine, but maybe once we recreate our characters and stat them again, imms could reimburse qps?

I agree that after characters are remade and clanned back into a clan they should get their quest points returned into them.
P.S. Galnor i am not a bad apple.

I had 957 in the old Kinslayer. Kinda slowed down and have around 450 in this one.
I would stop playing if i lost those qps again.

On another note: frankly I do not like the sounds of 'harder clanning requirements.' Like you are trying to keep certain people that you don't like out of clans altogether.

Personally, I have kept it pretty easy to clan Kno'mon, but I think my reasoning has been valid. Had I decided to make it difficult, what options would remain for casual Darkside players? Ko'bal is extremely difficult to get into and Ghob'hlin's council was inactive for an extended period of time. Players would get discouraged from playing a trolloc if all 3 options for clanning were unavailable, so I provided an easy option.
Should we opt to keep quest points after the reset, I think clanlists would have to be cleaned up. I would suggest giving former clanned characters some kind of quest to regain their quest points, one of reasonable difficulty but doable solo or with a small group. Maybe give the quest some kind of deadline (1-2 months) so those who don't remake themselves immediately have a fair shot. The quest(s) should probably be immortal devised so no one has an unfair advantage.
Just throwing out some ideas...

I love that idea Lithium.

Trin - I really can't think of a single person I hate on this mud. The reason I've kept entry into Ko'bal tight is because I want the clan to have a good reputation, which means I want people in it that are going to be active and good at pk at the same time. Ko'bal stabbers should be able to prove themselves before being Ko'bal.

ok not really that on topic, but...
I think it would be sweet if after wipe, coding was put in to enable a person to view his total weave points gained ever, and still view his current weave points.

I wouldn't like you if you made half as many disparaging remarks about and implied about me either. Never ceases to amaze me that you're surprised at the response you get to your own actions and words.
following nico off the topic...
What I thought would be cool for legends would be listing change in wps, so you could view who's been kicking ass the most recently(in last week or so) rather than who's died the least and accumulated most overall ever.(or both, another code thing I sugested for wotmud actually)

Cool stuff Axxey/nico,
Would be fun to have records of killing the most xxx or going on killing streaks, shrug anything like that would be semi-amusing perhaps.
Resets are for Galnor/Imms, I'm with them whatever they decide, I'm not leaving no matter what, I feel I owe them that much at least for the good times I got in return, and I'm trying to get a few friends/other people to join up so playerbase could grow hopefully. I'd like to hope I as a player help the mud some, but I'm sure we all have our different views, the intent is there at least
Just not getting them to do it now, wouldn't be cool to introduce something that could be insta-gone any second, if ya'll get me

Gosh Trin will you stop acting like you're superior to everyone else, you aren't. You run in your clan room to regen against even numbers. Go away. More darkies hate you than LS+Dark hate me combined! You don't get kills and flee when you know you are about to lose a bash! You sicken me! Go play in traffic

Both of you, calm down and stay on topic... This wouldn't be the first good discussion ruined by your bickering.

When I said bad apples, I did not only mean nasty players, but that easy clanning requirements also lead to people not taking their clan seriously.

Not a very wise blunt assumption for someone asking for their clan forum priveledges back.
As Nicotine has asked, keep this thread civil or I'll be forced to shut it down as I did the last one. You know, if I keep seeing the same group of people getting threads locked, I'll just make it easy for myself and give them read-only priveledges.

On topic-
Obviously I don't have nearly as many WPs or QPs as a lot of the players here, but I can definitely sympathize with those that are close to mastering, etc.
The way I see it, is- they exchanged/spent their time in the acquisition of those QPs. So basically, if they all get wiped, it's like taking months from their lives.
Like I said, I don't have first-hand experience with that, because I don't spend that kind of time on the MUD, but it's completely understandable that people would want to keep their achievements and accomplishments in the new MUD.
And, off topic...
trin, don't be a dick

if it's a choice between now and later, i choose now. because that leaves them time to get more stuff in which case they are going to be more angry. as long with all the other people playing right now that will get stuff as well.

I heard a rumor that we are going to be able to keep one character each, I don't know if its true and I don't remember where I heard that from, so don't ask, I think it may have been someone IRL.
I think that would be a good idea, considering I have just attained the shawl and I got to play for one(1) day after I got it and then the mud went down and has been that way ever since.
Regarding WPS I think that the total lifetime WPS idea was great, not only for this generation of the mud, but total.
I think that the old WPS may have been lost already from previous "weaves" but I don't know about this one.
From personal experience with Galnor, he doenst hate anyone, and accusing him of hating you will only make it worse for yourself.

Edited by Galnor -You guys can thank Trin for this thread's being locked.
To you Trin: If after this you really believe that you are a victim of some evil scheme, then I think you'd best think about what you've just posted. I've tried being nice, but you keep turning around and acting immature. So consider this your final warning.
