If the back of the book had carried a warning saying "this isn't really a trillogy, its going to be a 15 part story, some books of which will be filler, that will take 20 years to complete, and which will end up being written by someone else because the author will be dead, as will some readers, before it is finished" would anyone have read and forgotten that first book?
Can't see myself picking up the old books and starting from scratch again, especially as there were so many boring books after no. 6.
Oh, by the way - Thousandfold Thought - they got me again. Great Trillogy which doesn't end because there is a second Trillogy afterwards. Cry.

The book that I liked the best was A New Spring, belive it or not. I found it intersting reading about the characters before book 1. I couldnt care less about the 'last' book - but I'll read it anyhow prolly.

I've attempted to reread the books a couple times as the new ones came out.. never got past book 5 I think.
I enjoyed A New Spring too, to bad he died before he could write the other three prequels he had planned
Oh and the series based around the Seanchan...
