Very good idea for stopping people like Zarth and co did abusing low level channelers.

And hopefully levels will be a bit more significant thing with XP being harder this time around.

Well something that i would ifnd cool would be if we would have Channeler adepts that use Physical abilities and are weak channelers.

maybe we could make that a human hunter/warrior/rogue has a 0.5 % or lower of being an adept, you could find out if your an adept / unlocking your abilities by paying some mob a large amount of money.
(that wold be 1 in every 200 characters)

Cant think of a bonus for trollocs to counter it thou

How is it abuse to spam someone in a door with 3 level 15-30 channelers!?

One of whom couldn't even channel because he was spamming the door shut!

But back on topic, this idea has some potential. "Wilders" having blocks can also get interesting, as well as open up some interesting RP possibilities (ie Tower members being biased against them, maybe making them get Rank 3-4 White Tower to break down the block, etc.)

Really awesome stuff about wilders too.

Don't like your idea Engel too much of other ppl being "adepts", i just see that as a bad bad bad path to take.

Channelers should only be special for channeling, have shitty stats, but they will hopefully have a huge amount of weaves and great variety to play with.

Not to mention actually working to channel(awesome idea) by getting lvls, and then they could have wilders block for reasons like Dalar said, need White Tower to correct them, or if not then, could somehow code some way to help them figure it out.

Maybe quests......real quests...:P

Really cool stuff coming out of this, I'm enjoying this thread, gj nico!

Let's not "down" channelers, just make them extremely hard to play but extremely fun at the same time :)

this idea took off. good :) i like the wilders thing too, maybe have them really work to embrace the source, or like depending on the weather they can embrace without a timer or something :)

I think channies have it hard enough as it is!

another option, just to throw more ideas out there, have to practice seize/embrace just like any other practice, failing to seize/embrace could lose 5sps and have to try again.
I'd think also make regen while seized/embraced negligable.

I don't see any real point in downing channies anymore once mud comes back up. Channies are gonna be so stat-deprived it wont matter. I do think we should have some more weaves besides the usual fireball and air scythe.

i personally would like to see a lot more weaves that have effects other than damage to a target. weird ones, like the eavesdrop one i posted a while back etc.

Chase, I statted a channeler on testmud:

10 10 14 18 16.

Now, that's rough mentals, but to me phys stats mean alot more to a channeler.

That still is an extremely sick channie, still with this current stat system, I'd have the best defense in the entire game.

Only other person that could compete with me would be a thief with 20 dex and armor.

So, going by the statting system alone doesn't work.

These changes really should be looked at, not only to make the class DIFFERENT(other than a class that is just like all others with weaves...), but to make it much harder and much more enjoyable.

Yes, this will take tons of coding. So, it's up to galnor, I'm in no rush to see channelers for a long long time. I really think they cause an influx and an imbalance, we have been lucky so far there have only been a few good channelers.

Thus, keep suggesting ideas guys, any idea could be cause for consideration.

So far I really like the prac % changes ideas, hopefully diff prac ideas, the targeting channie, the "learning to channel", and something to do with wilders.

Really good stuff. Of course would take tons of coding, *wink* galnor.

Weave variety would definitely be nice. I'd love to see more status/weather/room/zone effect weaves, as well quirky things like the eavesdropping weave Nicotine mentioned.

Im fairly sure that int and wil will affect a lot more than how they did in the old mud. You say that that channie would be sick, but I doubt you would be anything more than a weak ranger than could channel maybe 3 fireballs before no sps. Oh and maybe 6 weaves max.

it would be ridiculous if there was a weave that let you make a whole zone nochannel, or a whole zone nospeak, or something. i think stuff like that would really spice up pk, just think trying to pk without being able to talk!

Hell yes Nico :), keep em coming :P

Although making a zone nochannel doesn't make too much sense, but cool nonetheless :P

Wrong, a rogue with 20 dexd without armor would have 2 more db,
Also 16 con sucks so much ass

if channies on new kinslayer are going to be like ones on testmud then channies are useless anyway.

Ok, glad ya'll are here, but please only post constructive items...

I'm glad ya'll have your opinion, but don't post it if it's not a suggestion on how to better them.

Complaining about it won't get anywhere.

Also, if you think 10 18 16 sucks for a channeler, go over to that other mud wotmud and look at their channelers.

Sure, who cares what wotmud does, but they would be lucky as hell to even get within range of these stats(con wise, which if i remember correctly is impossible on wotmud)

16 con gives you 300+ hps by lvl 50 at least, and that is extremely sick. Sure the 20 dex thief would have a bit more, but channies get armor to help get within 20 dex range...thus still making channie sick defense.

I still think the noshout idea would be pretty sweet, although maybe could still use "say" command, but that's still pretty useless if you never meet up in same room :) Could also last a few tics, drain alot of sps, but pretty sweet concept.

Kinda like wtf they call it these days...smirk...radar jamming? smirk. Whatever, my technical lingo has degraded over the years. :)

Also, one more thing:

If you do post useless posts that complain/whine/"this will suck"/"worthless channies"/"worthless characters" there is a very HIGH chance that the people who would make the changes(Galnor...) would feel like shit for even trying to improve it.

So, let's try to be mature and help Galnor/imms out. None of this is 100% going to happen, just roll with it and try to help out with suggestions.

*edit- Changed my mind, no point degrading the fate of others :)

I'd probably drop my dex to 17 and con to 14 to up the mentals. We'll see just how "useless" this character is when I get around to making it...

Of course, we'll see how "far" you get in making it when the unfinished channeler statting system becomes finished. :D

im pretty sure i had those stats on a mc with better wis/int, but maybe it was 17 dex but i think mcs had 18 dex stat sure you can say it was luck, but i saw a bunch of other mcs who had better stats.
300 hp is realy not alot, you can be blicked by a crapy dagger easy, well now that they changed the eq we will see what its like.
We should stop trying to change them and see what the new code is like. Maybe all weapons deal alot more damage making channelers weaker etc..

secondly you keep changing first you say a channeler has more dodge, and now you go saying sure a rogue might have better dodge.

stop making things up that you dont know about.

I was agreeing with you, it doesn't matter. Channie will still have very high defense.

Yes waiting until new eq and stuff comes makes sense, but half of this shit won't be affected.

This is just suggestions on what people would be interested in seeing to make a class more of an actual...class.

Sigh, I guess it's that hard.
