The time after the shot when you are in the same room as someone needs to be shortened. Atm it takes forever for arrows to land, which would be fine when firing from a distance (it would take much longer for arrows to reach you), but it should be a quick land from point blank range.

Just so everyone's aware, Critical Hit shots will no longer cancel timers. There won't be any other changes until I finish a partial rewrite of the way bows work, which I'm hoping to have done by the end of the week.

Me and nyoga tested and the damage for full shot was like 40-76+. We think that it would be more balanced to lower damage to 30-40 on full shot, and have like a small chance of hitting 70, but also to shorten the length of timer to 2 combat rounds or so. We also talked about getting pshoot back, cause the 70hps + sitting you was kinda op (maybe the 30+sit won't be though).

There isn't really any incentive to fire off faster arrows right now. They usually don't land, and when they do their damage sucks. Canceling with any command also feels kind of awkward. It might be better if you have to end with another "shoot" command, and anything else just straight up cancels it.

I agree, there's no point to shooting anything except the whole timer, cause they will barely ever land. The damage when they land is decentish though.

How would you guys feel about removing the flight time on same room arrows (so it would instantly hit at the end of the timer)?

No. I've not tested the dmg on the unique bow, but even the ones that were used against me would cause 70+ dmg when they hit. I'm guessing that has to do with dodge.

I engaged Edgar when i was healthy and he was mid-low wounded. I could not even touch him (he was in combo) and he took me to beat while I took him to high batt.

Why remove flight time? Lets make 'em more OP. I think you should down the parry they give. :P

The pb they give is already on the low side.

The timer thing is more to try to get the feel of the weapon right. I don't think there's been enough time to determine if they are OP or not yet.

Flight time is the only thing that is (semi) balancing it right now. That way instead of doing instant death damage, they have to wait a second.

But go ahead and remove it so we can get this over with more quickly. I don't care really, I'll just create my new bow using alt.

Maybe it's just me or my playstyle, but in my last couple attempts at PK I've been in very few situations where using a bow seemed to be the optimal choice. The only times I could see them being useful are in situations where no one is fleeing at all. If you start fleeing to dodge arrows, they become nearly useless. I could see them being pretty good in big group fights (for helping focus down high priority targets, similar to channeling), or helping to flush people away from mobs when you have someone guarding you from stabs, but in the game's current state you are better off going with bash or precise strike or channeling against anyone with any level of competency.

Precise strike is a good option - if you aren't a rogue.

As it stands i just change mood brave or berserk and melee and hope to hit someone. Once they know i'm there it's very hard to land a stab at all, unless you get extremely lucky or they are incompetent.

If you want to complain about precise strike (or thieves), please make another topic for it.

I'm not complaining about it exactly, I'm simply pointing out to those who apparently love to keep mentioning it that it DOES NOT WORK.

I haven't used it in ages anyway so it doesn't really do anything for me one way or the other.

good news is you can shoot at people after your throat has been crushed?!

*Barf* begins to stare at you intently, a look of concentration spreading across his face!

HP:Hurt SP:Flickering MV:Strong - Barf: Critical>
- A shadowy fade tries to slash your legs, but you parry the attack.
A Dhjin'nen trolloc tries to cleave your arms, but misses.
A Dhjin'nen trolloc tries to blast your shoulders, but misses.

HP:Hurt SP:Flickering MV:Strong - Barf: Critical>
+ You dodge to the side, letting an arrow fly past.

HP:Hurt SP:Flickering MV:Strong - Barf: Critical>

* Your skillful strike destroys the throat of *Barf*, ending his life.
You receive some experience points!
Your fame around the world has increased.
Your blood freezes as you hear *Barf*'s death cry.
*Barf* is dead! R.I.P.

*Barf* takes aim and fires an arrow at you from an ornate Two Rivers longbow!
You have a running streak of three kills!
