channies will be nothing on last time with the stat restrictions.

just found some of my crazy stats from last round.

Arithon was 18 18 16 19 19
Axxey was completely unchannie stats before he got downed, 19 15 12 19 18, got downed to 16 15 12 18 16

Nadir was 18 19 16 19 19 ranger

numberous others all with at least 3 high stats.

Very true man, but I promise you my channeler will have high dex+con. :)

Think con stat should be maxed at 15 or 14 perhaps.

And I was even looking at wotmud channelers, and I was on my 11 18 18 17 13 fc(first stat :)) after not playing her for months on end and was owning it up.

Of course, I died first to a group of 5 seanchan masters, or 3 were, and one had shocker and heron I think, and then eaxe and other high ob to my 220 def set :P(only 56% shield parry haha.)

But anyways, After ripping, got a buckler and a walking staff(80 db, 50 pb) and I literally owned a not so greatly equiped troll with spikes. Of course I was interrupted nearly 50% btw rounds, but I ended up killing him and a bud(of course a small ls group came, but I targeted them wb fade and it worked....

Just really looking at wotmud balance(haha, that's a joke) and I don't really see any at all. I see wotmud as "my gun is bigger than your gun" philosophy, and I really truly TRULY honestly don't think channelers should be imped UNLESS dark side actually gets 1.channelers, 2. something to counter channelers.

If/and when channies are imped again, I really think it will still be a problem, it's just always there.

If channies on both sides, I think that would rock all our socks, we can't bitch about one side having channies, and we can't bitch about 3 channies being on one side at once, for each side could do the same as other, it would be balance I think.

Take a look at the "fc thread" under game discussions on wotmud, alot of it is verbose wotmud bitching, but you really see the problems of channelers.

channies on DS would be cool, but it would serve no RP purpose at all unless we had newbie versions of dreadlords running all over the place.

Very true bro.

So maybe newbie dreadlords, and maybe their won't be the "dreadlord" option any more, but merely just another "Aes Sedai"

Would really like their to be clanned weaves, so these multiple channies unclanned would only have unclanned weaves.

But.

That is truly the only fix I can see for channies, is to have channies vs channies.

I would honestly like to hear another option/idea on how to fix this problem, I truly think no downing and downing and fixing of channelers to only ls will ever fix the problem.

If players want channies(which are cool), then I really think both sides need them, as both sides have all classes...(troll rogues? wtf....don't get me started :))

I'm going to laugh at Vurek's channies getting completely destroyed while he claims they're so overpowered.
try maxing out dex and con on a channeler and see what stats you end up with.

I did max out stats:

10 10 13 18 16.

Unless they changed it since on the testmud.

Shrug, rough mentals, could sacrifice 1-2 con and get high wis, it's still not entirely challenging.

But please suggest, No matter what happens to channelers there will always be a side(light side) with another type of character(thus making that side unique), yet no matter what, that side has something potentially more powerful.

Sure, they could be 10 18 18 16 11 channelers, but that isn't the problem. They could have weaker weaves, and other maluses, and even more radical changes, but it lies in the fact that that just merely adds a more unique/potentially strong offensive character to a side.

Whereas the other side gets?

Balance is my issue, and I really would like to see channelers balanced, I'm glad people are so glad to burn my posts or other people's posts, but if your going to do that, suggest something at the least.

And I honestly don't see what would be the problem with both sides having channelers, think it makes some idea of sense and balance.

If you can't see any of the inate weaknesses within that class with that sort of stats then i can't help you.

darkside rogues, can run around with sneak-notice on without any malus..
id consider that a bonus

I have never had a problme with low wil/int channelers. I had one channie with 9 int and 11 wil and he kicked mad ass.

Failed same amount of weaves as my 19 wil, not a problem. Sure changes will be made, but I said some phys stats can be sacrificed to boost the mentals higher....

But thank you both for addressing the matter. Glad to see noone has a problem with both sides having channelers.

And if you'd like to address ds stab, then please do so, make a topic, and suggest on what you think might better/help blah blah.(hell, look at free notice while riding for humans...add in remounts, as any sane pker uses, and you have insane mvs, I hagged more on ds than I ever did on ls)

But then that might turn sour, as some people can't stay focused :)

Both sides having channies? No way! Come on, youve got to be kidding. We have enough newbie channies running around ls, but if we had ds channies, then all those ds players will play channellers rather than their usual thief/warrior they used to play. Besides that, it also makes becoming a DS channie a high goal for those masters who feel like they have nothing to do.

DS channies wouldn't feel right... The Darkside should be more focused on heavy weapon bashers, and openly Shadow sworn channelers weren't that common anyway. I'd rather see a good darkfriend system set up for gradually raising Dreadlords, personally, but that's just me.

A Darkfriend set up would be great. DONT make it so that you swear yourself to the Dark Lord, then run around and kill humans for the Dark Lord. Just make it so that you report plans, and also you subtly make it easier for the DS. Maybe make a communication way between high rank trolls (until fades come). Perhaps a type of crow that carries messages from DF to DS, but takes 3-4 ticks to complete? Such as "Humans grouping to hit Snake King, come at 4 pm." Not the stupid same siders that run around during pk weaving humans, but a more proper DF compared to the books.

I agree about DF's, but seriously guys.

One side with channies. Ok then. In the books there wasn't channies up north all the time.

Hell the white tower hardly ever came unless they were on missions and huge raids...

Thus, something must be done for the fairness of both sides.

I personally would have no problem, if only Aes Sedai could pk, and due to Galnor saying that clanning will be much harder, there would be very few channelers.

I am not biased towards the darkside, I'm not biased towards lightside. If all of my playing time was measured, it would be equal for both sides, and for all character types. But, from all of my experience, I really really am tired of seeing a channeler as often as a basher/stabber on lightside, both as a lightside player and darkside player.

Not fun for the darksider, usually not that great for lightsider for they get the easy kills or completely overwhelm the opponent.(without a group)

Again with channelers on lightside, and playing Vurek for instance, it results in "patty pk" where ds has to sit on their patties to cower. Sure, that's fine, but that gets annoying for both sides.

Please suggest something for evening channelers for both sides then guys? So far nothing has happened, only a suggestion of darkfriends, which I think would work fine.

Hell, IF a channeler reaches Aes Sedai rank, and that is only rank at pkable status, or some restrictions, perhaps that channeler could "become a known darkfriend", and somehow be coded as a newbie dreadlord on darkside.

This would have to be measured, as not to have all channelers on ls and all on ds, but then both Aes Sedai and Newbie dreadlords could rank higher and eventually gain the master bonuses and whatever channelers can get(as they can't get fade/blademaster).

I think that might be best result, instead of tons of channies, only clanned channelers can pk, and then darkside gets some somehow...whatnot.

Or could just get it so that only clanned get good worthwhile weaves(unclanned get garbage) and then the possibility of switching to darkside for channies could even it out.

Easier/better solution than adding channelers both sides with current effects in my opinion.

Any thoughts? Please suggest other ways, I emphasized the darkfriend account and hopefully it would possibly work.

I think it might be neat if instead of having darkside channies, we introduced another class to darkside to specifically be the foil character of a channeler. We could call it a berserker, and it could have projectiles be its weapon of choice (whereas bashing weapons are warriors, whatever for rangers, and daggers for rogues)

We could imp a system that let thrown objects interrupt weaves, and create a lot of low-to-mid dmg projectiles that can be thrown to inflict damage one after another. We could also develop skills having to do with this, like a "power throw" or "true aim", dealing more dmg, taking mvs, or whatever.

What do you guys think?

Oh and eventually, since I've been talking about DS this whole post, we could introduce bows and slings to the game, and have those weapons be rangers weapon of choice for both sides.

I'm always up for more variety, and a class which primarily uses projectiles would be a blast to play around with.

Getting bows working would also be great

I agree with Nicotine on some points. Make a DS counter to channies..but dont just go with same channies. Projectile idea is nice, but dont make it so that rangers are good with bows and slings. Rangers are more of the all-around char, but can't beat each person in his own particular department of weapons. AKA, warriors best bashers, but rangers are ok at it.

Perhaps also create some eq for dark side only that is resistant to a % vs certain weave types?

Sounds cool with me, would take coding from the big boys, but that's cool with me.

That would rock hard.

Still think dfs and the like should be able to transfer to darkside before dreadlord.

Really think becoming a dreadlord is a bit of a joke :P

as to the berserker idea, we could have different weapons to prac just like a basher can prac axes/swords/clubs/etc., berserkers could get throwing axes, throwing knives, throwing stars, boomerangs, whatever.
