properties
Re: properties
I havn't put in the effort to read all about them and get super excited yet. Forgive me if I have been bland, Koradin. I did read some of the announcement you made about them though, awsome work. I like the part about being about to wiz yourself to a property. I also like the "Allow" feature.
I'll look into it eventually. You're really doing great.

Re: properties
If you own a property the only siege team you can buy is the one to destroy your property gate, if you don't own a property this is the message you get.
We also need a command to sell the property back and/ or rooms, mobs, gate, portal etc in case we want to downsize upkeep cost or not own the property at all.An engineer tells you, 'My siege teams aren't deployed near any properties right now, Jack.'
Re: properties
You can't hire a siege for a property that isn't currently claimable. I'll remove the ability to siege your own.Evilina wrote:If you own a property the only siege team you can buy is the one to destroy your property gate, if you don't own a property this is the message you get.

If you don't want to own your property anymore, just stop paying upkeep.
Re: properties
Isn't that a double negative? Not sure what you meant but if you meant we can't hire a siege team for a property that is unowned then I realize that, why would anyone want to, there is no gate and all you have to do is spend cash to buy it.Koradin wrote:You can't hire a siege for a property that isn't currently claimable.
I did also mention downsizing to reduce upkeep cost.Koradin wrote:If you don't want to own your property anymore, just stop paying upkeep.
Re: properties
It would be nice to have the ability to relinquish an owned property in case a property comes available that is more desirable than what is currently owned, a 25% refund would be even nicer but not necessary.
Having more control over property would be awesome, I also like Crunch's idea of being able to play dress up barbie with a few mobs, even if it's only the Captain would be cool especially if he saved his eq over reboots and crashes, an additional idea would be to purchase a single skill for him such as bash, pstrike, kick, etc but at an exorbitant price.
no offense but the siege team is lacking, they bust a gate down and split, I would rather them do something that would promote some 1 vs 1, bust the gate down, randomly kill mobs in properties and remain at the gate until dismissed so they can be used as a fall back patty for the player laying siege.
Additionally it would be cool if after you order them to fire they ask you what type of shot to use and each type of shot cost varies depending upon its strength and use, this would force the sieger to carry around cash similar to the property owner (cause they have to keep cash on hand for upkeep).

Re: properties
I agree with most of this. The issue is that it takes a lot of time and effort to implement this stuff and I am a one man volunteer army here. A lot of the improvements I have made aren't being utilized because there is no playerbase to support it. I suggest if you want to keep seeing new additions, help me grow our audience.Evilina wrote:It would be nice to have the ability to relinquish an owned property in case a property comes available that is more desirable than what is currently owned, a 25% refund would be even nicer but not necessary.

Re: properties
You know people play intermittently, why not have properties finished in lieu of their return?
Re: properties
That's not the point. I am not saying I'm going to stop working to improve things unless we get more players. I'm just saying it takes a lot more time and effort than you probably realize to make it all work correctly, balance it, and create the systems that will allow it to run without supervision. I'm not a professional coder; I taught myself this stuff with some help from Galnor and Fogel, and I do it because I enjoy it. I don't respond well to endless complaints about this or that, and I don't have enough time, knowledge or resources to make it all work exactly the way everyone wants all the time. There's a lot less pleasure in doing this when there's never any positives, either. All I'm asking is that you remember this stuff when you provide feedback.
You can certainly count on there being more improvements to properties, many of which will probably line up with your ideas, but it won't happen all at once.

Re: properties
Koradin my old friend, I think for our sake I will refrain from posting in your feedback threads from here on out, apparently you have "shit" under control.
You are doing a bang up job (that means good) and I appreciate all the hard work and time you have put into the game.
That'll do pig, that'll do.

Re: properties
Nice job on ignoring player opinion and doing your own thing Koradin, as of now all three properties are unowned!
"Shit"
"Shit"
Re: properties
They're unowned because people aren't active, it's not like they'd be owned even if Koradin had of taken your ridiculous amount of suggestions and spent every day to imp them. It's only because people aren't playing much right now. Don't be a douche.
Re: properties
Yeah, douche.
You should feel honored by the fact the all mighty Koradin is even listening to you. You should definitely be offering to have his babies on request etc. Although, your colon doesn't function quite like a uterus.

Re: properties
Just exactly how bipolar are you?
Re: properties
Should our lord and savior thy holy mother fucking Teresa who does such wonderful works for children for a minimal charge (not sure what your salary is but lol fucking lol) be so judgmental over the forums of a text based game?
You hypochondriac!
You hypochondriac!
Re: properties
Sean, comparing him to mother Teresa is a complete and utter insult to anyone trying to do a good thing by people. Mother Teresa was a horrible fucking person, just google 'mother teresa controversy' or something. Also, if you really want to poke fun at his salary etc, why don't you do it properly? If its something ludicrous, it might actually inspire change in his organization etc and then everyone benefits.
How do you do it properly?
1. Find out who he works for (I think its the International Children's Heart Foundation ?)
2. Go to Charity Navigator website (http://www.charitynavigator.org/)
3. Find the charity and see how they rate against others etc, how efficient they are with their spending, how transparent they are etc.
4. Pick up your phone and fucking call them and ask.
Yeah, there are some fucking disgusting charities out there making millions of $$ off people's donations thinking their money is going to a good cause (aka invisible children - wtf even is that charity? they directly fund a dictator responsible for 3 genocides in central africa) oh and people still legitimately believe its a good cause and give them money.
Anyway, I did the first 3 steps for you here.
ICHF scores 3/4 stars on charity navigator.
Financially it scores 4/4 stars (this is the part you're giving him shit for)
But it also scores 2/4 stars for transparency which drops the overall rating. It scores lower here because they don't have any policies for a number of things like donor privacy, whistleblowers and no audited financials. Whats that even mean? If I had to take a wild stab in the dark I'd say the way they operate could often be dictated by the donors (aka people give them money but demand a say in how they operate). Knowing Nyoga isn't the CEO or in a position to know much about this shit (maybe he knows but is powerless to change it), its not something he is responsible for.
Financially though, they look pretty fucking efficient. Admin expenses are 4.9% and fundraising efficiency is $0.03, that means for every dollar you give them, only 3 cents is going to pay for the administration, the 97 cents left goes to the dying babies. The other thing is the organization is growing and not just that, they must be doing something right because they appear to be becoming more efficient as they grow. This is the side of the business you're giving him shit for btw. So, who cares what he gets paid? If he made $1 million a year, he probably deserves it because he's contributing to a fucking competitive charity, but you know he earns no where near that if their declared finances are correct. In fact I'd say he earns a horribly low wage and could earn a lot more doing just about anything else.
So, if you had a bunch of money laying around, gave a damn about dying babies etc. Are they a good charity to give your money to? I'd say yes.
Of course I could have picked the wrong charity. But if he tells you what it is, maybe you can repeat steps 1-3 yourself.
